Filming an intimate sex scene can be tough and takes confidence – these 5 stars all find faking sex on screen to be quite embarrassing. Some don’t like being watched by the crew, while others hate being naked for the cameras, or find doing the sexual moments and faces to be really awkward when the cameras start rolling! Here is what these 5 actors and actresses think about faking it for a film.
Emma Roberts
Emma filmed a ‘first time’ sex scene with Rory Culkin which she found embarassing to act and to watch back afterwards: “It was kind of awkward and embarrassing. It was kind of an honest first time kind of scene, I guess. I think seeing it onscreen is more awkward actually. I saw it when I was with one of my really good friends, one of my best friends who I’ve known since I was in kindergarten and she couldn’t even watch. She was burying her face in my shoulder. When we shot it I was thinking, ‘This is really embarrassing. I don’t know if I can do this. I don’t know if I’m ever going to do this again.’ But then, when you’re actually on the set, you just want to do it in one take and you just want to get it over with. So you just go out there and do it. I think that anticipation is almost worse than the actual scene itself.”
Zach Galifianakis
Zach says he doesn’t ever want to do a sex scene because it’s something he finds embarrassing: “I wouldn’t want to. I’d hate it. I’ve only had to do a few of those things where you have to kiss and stuff. It’s so embarrassing.”
Robert Pattinson
When filming the sex scene for Twilight, Robert found it quite awkward: “We were staring into the camera doing orgasm faces and stuff and it becomes unbelievably embarrassing. But I think it ended up good at the end I think.”
Jason Statham
Jason had to film a sex scene in a public place which he found hard: “Trying to do an aggressive sex scene is quite difficult. Especially in a public place with a crowd of screaming extras with their little camera phones going click-click, taking pictures of your pasty white ass. I’ve had my fair share of bedroom antics in films, but they were a little more private.”
James Marsden
James hates doing sex scene because he doesn’t like people watching: “It’s so embarrassing with everyone watching you. It’s the opposite of romantic. I already feel like the crew are judging me, so imagine doing a sex scene. They’d be thinking: ‘Ooh, is that how he does it in real life?’ Awful! I don’t know how I’d react if I was offered a part with a sex scene. My wife would tell me to do it, though. She wants people to see that I’m sexy.”
