These 5 stars may all be experienced parents but they aren’t willing to dish out baby advice. Some think those who offer parenting tips are annoying and can actually end up leading the parent in the wrong direction, while others simply believe parenting is all about discovering what works for you personally and think that parenting can only be figured out by learning as things happen. They may have friends who are expecting kids or even someone close to them in their family, but they don’t want to offer advice to them, at least unless they’re asked!
Hugh Jackman
Hugh doesn’t give tips out because he was thinks it might have negative effects: “I didn’t give any advice because anyone who’s actually had kids knows there’s nothing more annoying than all the advice you get on how to do it. You know you’re going to stuff it up in some way or other. Actually the best bit of advice was from the guy who delivered the baby, when my first son Oscar was born. He came in and the birth happened about two minutes later and as he was leaving he said, ‘Congratulations, don’t rock the baby.’ Cut to two weeks later, the baby won’t sleep and we’re rocking it. That’s the only advice I give. Don’t rock the baby because you end up spending your life doing it. But I didn’t give that to Keith or Nicole.”
Solange Knowles
Solange doesn’t like offering other moms advice, especially her sister Beyonce: ”No, I really feel like because I had my son so young, I didn’t want everyone’s help. I think people felt entitled to give advice, so I’m always very sensitive to moms and letting them feel their way out. But there have been times when she’ll ask, ‘Did Julez do this? Did this ever happen with Julez?’ And I’ll gladly give her advice. I’m in a really good place, and I think things are evolving because of that.”
Sarah Jessica Parker
When asked if she had any advice for ‘The Carrie Diaries’ star AnnaSophia Robb, she said it was be as useless as offering parenting advice because she has to learn to be the character herself: “It’s like someone giving romance advice or parenting advice. It’s such a unique experience, playing a part and I’m sure they found someone wonderful,I wasn’t part of it in any way, so I don’t know. I’m sure it will be, definitely.”
Johnny Depp
Johnny didn’t want to share tips with co-star Penelope Cruz but did offer her one piece of wisdom: “The funny thing is when Vanessa and I were expecting our first people were giving us all kinds of advice saying it was gonna be this and it was gonna be that but nothing stands up to what you truly experience when your first kid arrives so all I could tell her was, ‘Just understand that this is going to be the best ride of your life.’ “
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer thinks advice can be annoying: “Everybody gives you a lot of advice when you are pregnant, which I find a tiny bit annoying, so I’m not going to give any. But I did read ‘What To Expect When You Are Expecting’ by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel. You can go day by day with that. It’s awesome.”
