It must be easy to let all of the constant praise and compliments go to your head: many stars seem to grow monstrous egos and let their bad behavior spiral out of control before they get a nasty wakeup call – or just continue behaving horribly forever. These 5 stars all claim that they have no ego at all and never let stardom get to them. They realize that they’re just human beings and that they can’t be as amazing as people say they are – they know they’re able to make mistakes and aren’t as important as they’re often made out to be. Trying to stay as grounded and as normal as possible, they’ve all done their best to keep their head screwed on straight even when it can be a battle from time to time.

Bradley reads negative comments about himself on the internet to keep his ego from growing: ”Maybe if you start feeling a little too big for your britches, hop on the internet and take a look at some message boards for five seconds. It’s not something I do often, but if you do, It’ll take you right back down. Oh, my, God! First of all, let’s be honest: It’s incredibly narcissistic to do that and masochistic. You want to feel s***ty about yourself. Boom – it’s easy. To me this business [acting] is the ultimate humbling experience. You’re constantly dealing with rejection. My journey has not been people kissing my ass.”
Chris says that although his ego is often boosted by fame, his kids bring him crashing back down to earth:”We played Wembley Stadium and I was like, ‘Wow, we are big rock stars’. But at six o’clock in the morning the kids were like, ‘Get me some pancakes. And I was like, ‘Oh, am I a rock star?’ But that’s what hopefully keeps your music real.”
Jessie believes that she got a reputation as a judge on ‘The Voice’ as a diva but she insists she has no ego at all and keeps her team limited:”I don’t think there has been any TV show where a woman hasn’t had a diva stamp. I don’t want anyone to think that’s what I am because I’m not. I’m the total opposite. I have eight people in my team, not 50. You can’t win. I realise that happens to women.”
Leonardo knows that you can’t always be “hot” or amazing at everything: “Just because you’ve done a good performance once, doesn’t mean you’re always going to be good. That’s why some of the greatest actors in the world have gone a little bit nuts. They’re saying to themselves, ‘What happened? You used to love me?’ It’s an easy trap to fall into. You just have to realise that when you’re hot, you’re hot, and when you’re not, you’re not.”
Tom realizes how lucky he is and won’t take his fame for granted: “I have been a lucky man. I have a privileged life. I have never let my ego grow – I’m aware that I’m just an actor. I have a ball with people and I feel thankful when they scream my name at a movie premiere. In the past 25 years I’ve witnessed how my life and my reality have been completely distorted, twisted and exaggerated. I have to continue being myself even though sometimes it takes a huge effort.”
