Although so many star moms make it look easy, these 5 celebrities have all said that it isn’t quite as simple and as rapid for them to drop those stubborn post-baby pounds. Some moms appear to bounce back to size in mere weeks while Victoria’s Secret models do one better and often end up back on the catwalk in just over a month after welcoming their latest addition – there is constant pressure to out-do and it can’t be easy, especially for those who have to deal with the constant criticism of the media. Candidly speaking on their own struggles, these 5 celebrities have all spoken on how hard it really is to lose the weight and be back to their former size which they feel is expected of them.
Gwen Stefani
Gwen’s husband Gavin Rossdale said that his wife did her best to shed the pounds as fast as possible even though it isn’t easy in the spotlight: “Yeah, she does (feel under pressure). I mean, she’s just so dedicated and she’s just amazing with that stuff (weight loss). It’s very hard because everyone’s so judged the whole time.”
Gwyneth didn’t like her post-pregnancy body and found it hard to change following the birth: “I didn’t mind the big boobs. But I hated the stomach roll, the back fat and the post-pregnant butt. And it was so hard to get rid of. Especially the final 20 pounds (nine kilograms).”
‘The Office’ star revealed that it isn’t as easy to bounce back as many stars make it look: “Let me please stand in solidarity with all of the women who are not a size two six weeks after leaving the hospital. I thought, you read all of the stuff (from female stars) in magazines like, ‘Oh, I breastfed my baby and I am so skinny now.’ I am breast-feeding my baby and I am not getting any skinnier. I think I’m just going to be a little bit bigger for a little bit longer – and that’s fine with me.”
Jessica knows her weight is constantly talked about and admits she didn’t immediately bounce back: “My weight has always been something that people like to comment on… Nobody wants to talk about their weight. For me, I have had to come to a place where I am comfortable with myself. I’m a mum now, and get to be a role model for this beautiful little girl… I’m not a supermodel. My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiance and herself.”
After giving birth to her son Tennesse, Reese admitted it takes time to drop the pounds: ”I don’t know if I’m bouncing back. I’m slowly crawling back. You know, all of your joints feel wobbly, and your head is sort of confused. You just have to be gentle and patient with yourself and just sort of, you know…slowly get back to your health.”
