It’s almost awards season yet again, and there are plenty of rising young actresses up for nominations already. These 5 young stars have all spoken about how it feels to be nominated and how it can change everything, even if they don’t take home the award. Getting candid, they’ve shared their excitement and thoughts about winning big at the most prestigious awards ceremonies.
Alicia Vikander
Alicia says she finds her nominations overwhelming and she ever expects it to happen: “It’s very overwhelming and was a big whirl yesterday when I found out. It all felt very surreal. You don’t expect your name to be called. For me it’s been such a journey to be able to work on both of these films, which are so incredibly different.”
Emma Stone
Emma couldn’t contain herself when she was nominated for an Oscar: “Well this is surreal. I am completely knocked out. Thank you to the Academy for this incredible honor. I am very proud and lucky to be part of Birdman and I can’t believe it came to this. I am so f––ing excited. Are you allowed to say ‘f––’ when making a statement for the Oscars? I’m just really f––ing excited.”
Jessica Chastain
Jessica has been nominated for an Oscar twice and explains that it makes her feel more comfortable: “I can be a bit of an awkward girl. I’m not like super-confident and feel like, oh, I own my place. I feel a little bit like, okay, whatever, all the hard work I’ve done in the past five years, I do now have a place in this business. But I do feel a little bit, well, who knows how long this is gonna last? (laughs). But I wonder if that will always be the case with me. Let’s just enjoy it while it lasts because it could be gone tomorrow. I think that’s probably a good way to live.”
Rooney Mara
Rooney says nominations are important because they can change everything: “Getting nominated means something, you will get better parts, and I really do want people to see the film. But I don’t feel like it’s something I’m desperate for. I would forgo it all to keep my integrity.”
Shailene Woodley
Shailene says when she learnt about her Golden Globes nomination she was so excited: “I was aghast, shocked, surprised, gratitude, excitement. It was like, “What, I was nominated?” Seriously this is so exciting.”
