Many musicians aspire to team up with their heroes or close friends to create a special collaboration that means something to them. Some want to work with people who’ve inspired them to create music, while others have been wowed by other singers and think they are an amazing talent. Who knows, perhaps some of these collaborations might take place in the future? Selena Gomez is the most recent star to speak on a heart-felt duet – she wants to sing alongside Taylor Swift for her next album, while also working on maturing her sound.
Adam Lambert
Adam dreams of working with Christina Aguilera because he believes her vocal talents go un-matched by any other: “I’ve been a fan of hers since I was a teenager and when she first came out, we were around the same age… I think she’s incredible. There’s really no-one who can match those vocals. I think it would be really fun to sing with her. She’s a powerhouse.”
Usher
Usher would love to work with Adele even though she is close to out-selling him: ”I think the world deserves an Usher and Adele record. That’s what I think. I have to confess that I have told a few people not to go and buy Adele’s album because I don’t want her to go and break my record. No, actually, I love her. Unfortunately, she’s the closest to breaking my record for the last 10 years. So now, guys, don’t go and buy that album right now.”
Selena Gomez
Selena says for her next album she will work with different people to create something more mature, and would love to share a song with Taylor Swift: “I want to go for producers that probably wouldn’t want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with Fun. I want to work with just different styles of music. I also want to work with Taylor (Swift) too. So I just want to do different things for this album. By the time it comes out, I’ll almost be 21, so I want to be able to – wow, that sounds really scary! I want it to be older.”
Ne-Yo
Ne-Yo would like to work with Lady Gaga because he believes she is changing the way things are done in the music industry: “I’d love to do a duet with Lady Gaga. A lot of people asked me if ‘Beautiful Monster’ had anything to do with Lady Gaga and I can honestly say no, it did not. Lady Gaga had nothing to do with the creation of the record, however, if she were willing to do a duet I would absolutely love to do something with her. I give credit to Lady Gaga for breathing new life into the creative element of video making. Before her, videos were getting really bland and then Lady Gaga came out with all this new creativity and new energy.”
Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood dreams of one day creating a song with George Michael who she admires: “George Michael is at the top of my list. I’ve been listening to him my whole life. I had the Wham! tape and I wore that thing out. To duet with him would be amazing, I would love to. There’s nobody else that has a voice like his.”
