The 2015 Grammys took place over the weekend, and as usual, there were many memorable moments both on and off stage! These 5 celebrities all took the spotlight, saying something memorable on the night. Some were honoured with an award and took the moment to reflect on their success, while others were simply voicing their opinions or funny stories from the event itself.
Beyonce
Collecting an award for Best R&B Performance, Beyonce commented on stage: “Wow, thank you guys so much. This is such an honour. I’d like to thank God…This has been such an incredible year. I love y’all. I’d like to thank my beloved husband. I love you deep My daughter who’s watching, Blue, I love you. I’d like to say thank you to my Beyhive. Thank you guys for riding so hard.”
Ed Sheeran
Ed was amused by a funny run-in he had with Lady Gaga: “I love Lady Gaga. Spoke to her earlier and she mistook me for a waiter. Gotta love the GRAMMYs. I need a new suit. Aha.”
Lady Gaga
After winning, Gaga congratulated her collaborator Tony Bennett. She said: “We WON! Tony Bennett & I are so grateful to win this Grammy together! Thank you to our fans! Benedettos, lil’ monsters & @theGrammys! I can’t believe it, WOW this is my 6th Grammy!! I could never do this without amazing fans, always stay true to yourself I love you so much!”
Kanye West
After the show wrapped up, Kanye commented on Beck winning Album of the Year: “I don’t know what he said, all I know is if the Grammys want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more….Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce, and at this point, we tired of it. Because what happens is, when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration and we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day and they listen to that Beyonce album and they feel like it takes them to another place.”
Sam Smith
Sam Smith won the award for Best Pop Vocal Album and commented on the win: “I just wanna say that before I made this record I was doing everything to try and get my music out. I was trying to lose weight and I was making awful music. It was only until I started to be myself that the music started to flow and people started to listen.”
