For one reason or another, all 5 have stopped talking or lost contact with the man who gave them life. Some decided to cut ties when their dad sold their story to the media, while others lost touch when their parents split.

Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys has been estranged from her father since he made up things about her: “‘I was aware of all the false things that were being said about me it definitely hurt. I was sure that if I engaged it would become back-and-forth like some sick entertainment, which goes against everything I believe and would have made things worse.”
Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne and his father definitely aren’t on speaking terms: “He don’t give a sh*t about me. And I don’t give a shit about him. I saw the n*gga recently—I had a show in New Orleans. And I ain’t afraid to put this out there, ’cause this is just how much I don’t give a f*ck about a n*gga, and I want people to see how you’re not supposed to be. I was parked at the hotel, and I saw him walking outside the hotel. Just walking back and forth. I’m like, “Look at this n*gga! You gotta be looking for me.” If Lil Wayne got a show in New Orleans, the whole of New Orleans knows. Basically, you’re not there for nothing else but me. So I call my man on the bus. I’m like, “N*gga, that’s my daddy.” So I tell my man, “Go see what’s up.” So my man goes to holla at him. He tells my man, “Oh. I didn’t know y’all was here. I’m here waiting for this little ho to get off work from the hotel.” For real? That’s when I was like, “Typical Dwayne Carter.” So that’s what’s up with me and my real father. I don’t want to look like his ass, but I do.”
Rihanna
Rihanna has also been estranged from her father ever since he spoke to the media about her: “He kind of did something that was really upsetting. He turned his back on me and went to the media. He got paid to talk about stuff – all these little interviews he was doing after the whole situation in February. I hadn’t spoken to him and he was speaking as though we did. It was so disappointing to me.”
Kelly Rowland
Kelly Rowland has not seen her father since her parents split 20 years ago. She says that she’d like to talk to him: “I do have a desire to speak to him. But I have to be ready when I make that decision, and I don’t want to hurry myself. I’ve been without him for more than 20 years.”
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato’s dad told the media that he was in touch with his daughter, but it turned out not to be true: “We are still (estranged). It’s not exactly how he made it out to be. It didn’t have the fairy tell ending that he portrayed. The last time I talked to him was two years ago. You try to have faith in somebody, even when you’re the last person that believes in him. But When someone lets you down after you’ve been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don’t know what to do… I had to cut off all connection. It was hurting me too much.”
