These 5 celebrities don’t understand why anyone would go under the knife, and much prefer the idea of growing old gracefully. These stars have all spoken out against cosmetic surgery – Anthony Hopkins thinks it totally changes a person’s face which makes them lose all character, while Lady Gaga believes that stars who have cosmetic surgery are promoting body insecurity and making people believe its ok to change yourself.
Anthony Hopkins
Anthony Hopkins says that surgery makes people look completely different, which is strange to him: “Well, what are you going to do? You see other actors having their faces done and you think, ‘Why? Don’t do all that stuff, you look ridiculous.’ It changes the structure of their faces. I knew a wonderful actor, who shall remain nameless, and when I met him just before he died, he looked like he’d turned into someone else. I didn’t even know who he was. Leave it alone for heaven’s sake. Just get old.”
Raquel Welch
Raquel Welch thinks sexiness is more important than fixing everything when it comes to beauty: “It’s so sad that people torture themselves to look half their age. If you sit there examining your body with a magnifying glass you find many little imperfections but no one else notices them. And they’re outweighed by the sexiness and confidence you develop as an older woman.”
Melissa George
Melissa George thinks people can look silly after having surgery and doesn’t know why people would do it: “The world has bad plastic surgery. It’s called plastic surgery! Of course you’re not going to look good. If someone needs surgery after accident, I’m a big supporter of that but I don’t know why everyone wants to look like the Joker! I do believe in maintenance, though. I wear sunscreen and I have a very strong chemical peel about once every two years. Nothing much else as my face is so full anyway – it’s like a chubby little face.”
Jack Osbourne
Jack Osbourne says that he isn’t vain enough to want plastic surgery: “I don’t think so. I’ve read stuff saying I’ve had a nose job and lipo and that I had a nose Brad Pitt would envy. I don’t think I’m that kind of person who would have it. I’m just not that vain.”
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga won’t ever have surgery because she thinks it promotes insecurities: “I have never had plastic surgery, and there are many pop singers who have. I think that promoting insecurity in the form of plastic surgery is infinitely more harmful than an artistic expression related to body modification. And how many models and actresses do you see on magazine covers who have brand-new faces and have had plastic surgery, while I myself have never had any plastic surgery? I am an artist, and I have the ability and the free will to choose the way the world will envision me.”
