Struggling with neurotic behaviour is very common, be it just sadness, depression, negative feelings and thoughts, etc. It’s difficult not to listen to that inner voice which can be quite powerful, and these 5 celebrities have candidly admitted that they often find themselves battling their own neurotic feelings internally. Some have thankfully managed to move past it, while others say it’s something they still face.
Carey Mulligan
Carey admits that she was neurotic during her younger years despite being quite confident at the same time: ”I was confident but I was so neurotic. On a few occasions, I threw up before tests. I was anxious about being tested, for some reason.”
Gwen admits she is often neurotic about her appearance and works out hard to stay looking good: “I try not to be but I’m super-neurotic about diet. I’m neurotic about trying not to be neurotic! I’m like every other girl. I have to try really hard my whole life to try to be fit. And I’m super-vain. And I want to wear cute clothes.”
Keira reveals that she used to take things too seriously and was quite neurotic during her younger years: “Everything up to 25 I was pretty neurotic and taking everything far too seriously. I found it difficult to step back from it and I was taking it very personally. Partly because as an actor you don’t want necessarily that thicker skin, and I couldn’t figure how to be open emotionally and yet get a thick enough skin so that things didn’t hurt.”
Megan says she is able to look confident but she is actually quite neurotic: “I’m very confident in how I project my personality. But in terms of how I look, I’m completely, hysterically insecure. I’m self-loathing, introverted and neurotic.”
Taylor frequently suffers from neuroses and anxieties: “I’m completely neurotic, totally anxious and high-strung all the time. I sleep for about four hours a night, or day, really. I go to bed at 9am, sleep for four hours, then get up and start the day again.”
