Do celebrities really prefer to date other famous people? These 5 celebs say they do, simply because it is easier for them. Preferring that their partner understand the career pressure they’re under because they’ve been through something similar themselves, these stars say dating someone in the spotlight in actually preferable and less stressful.
Ellie Goulding
Ellie says her relationship with Dougie Poynter works so well because they’re both in the same industry and can support each other: “Dougie and I have such different musical worlds, but he understands when I’ve had a tough rehearsal or tough couple of days traveling. I don’t like to rely on him to get me through everything, though. I’m an independent person—I do like to take care of things myself. It’s important to figure out ways of keeping your own Zen.”
Ella believes dating someone in the spotlight means you both have an understanding: ”It’s easier because you both go through similar stresses, thoughts and doubts. It’s easier to be with someone who gets that.”
Kate Hudson
Kate says it can make things easier and she has lots of cute co-stars: “I think it’s like with anybody when you meet somebody who understands what comes with what you do. It doesn’t mean that the relationship is going to work but it makes an element of the relationship easier. Not to mention that, you know, a lot of co-stars are super cute and that’s fun.”
Katy likes when who she’s dating can by sympathetic about what she goes through: “They understand what it means when you’re tired from a show or the tour’s exhausting you or if an interview went wrong – they know all the ins and outs, so you can just walk into the house with a certain face and they understand, you know? Rather than, like, having to explain everything and that takes two, three hours.”
Zayn has noticed it helps with creating trust: “There’s no real trust issues in a sense (when dating a famous woman) -like, ‘Is this person gonna record me while I’m taking a p**s?’…It’s just life. The situations that I’m in grant me to be around them sort of people (sic), you know what I mean? And luckily, you get to have a conversation with them sort of people (sic). Because there’s a lot of fit celebrity birds (women).”
