Lots of celebrities have claimed that they lost weight thanks to a juice diet, only to be slammed for promoting a weight loss program which isn’t seen as healthy and could cause long term damage as nutritionists warn that the juices involved don’t have all of a person’s necessary nutrients to survive in a healthy way for long periods of time, leaving them with possible serious deficiencies. Some stars say a detox which involves only drinking certain juices for days at a time made them feel more energetic, while others claim it even made their skin more youthful. Thankfully some of these celebrities only use juice to help them diet and don’t drink it exclusively as their only form of intake, while others claim to have gone for a long time without solids, living off a shocking diet of strange juices in order to slim down.
Anna Friel
Anna swears by a juice including maple syrup, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and water: “I’ve been drinking it for two months and I feel so much better and my skin has really benefited. If you’re vain, as you get older you start thinking, ‘I’ve got to do everything I can to save my skin’. I’ve tried everything.”
Fergie’s husband Josh introduced her to juicing and now she loves green smoothies: ”Josh turned me on to the book The Beauty Detox Solution, by Kimberly Snyder. It’s about juicing as a way of life. I don’t plan to make the switch completely, but I’m adding superfoods to my system with her green smoothie.”
When preparing for the Victoria’s Secret runway, Miranda drinks healthy juices: ”I amped up my training. [I’ve been] doing a lot of Pilates, yoga, boxing and working my core, butt and legs. I also drink healthy green juices everyday, and protein shakes.”
Mischa loves juicing and feels it helps her slim down when she wants to: ”I’ve never been on a fad diet, but I’ve been juicing for years and I love it. Juice gives me energy and fills me up when I don’t have time to eat other things. You get so many nutrients so quickly out of it. I strongly believe in those things, like the health benefits of juicing with cayenne pepper.”
Natalie uses juice instead of snacks to cut her cravings: “I was drinking 12 ounces a day, which is pretty powerful. I had to cut back a little but it keeps my weight down. It’s great for your liver, it’s great for energy, it’s great for blood pressure… I was just amazed at the difference it made in just a week.”
