It may seem silly for someone who is already famous and has achieved so much, to feel star-struck when they meet other stars, but it happens! Some have been wowed when they bumped into their idols, and have even asked for an autograph, while others were even too shy to approach those who they were star-struck by! These 5 celebs have all been startled by someone they look up to, and have described how it feels to be in the presence of greatness!
Cheryl Cole
X Factor UK judge says that when she saw Beyonce, she was so star-struck she couldn’t even talk to her: “I turned into a fool when I saw Beyonce, I couldn’t speak to her. I really embarrassed myself. When I saw Jay-Z the other week I did the same. I didn’t know whether it was because I’d built it up in my head but when he approached me I started screaming Jay-Z and then turned my back on him.”
Will.i.am
Will.i.am says that he admires Johnny Depp, even once chasing him down at an awards ceremony so he could take his photo: “Who do I get star struck over? Johnny Depp. I chased that dude around the building. We were backstage at this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and he’d just finished presenting and somebody sad, ‘Johnny Depp just walked in.’ And I was like, ‘Where did Johnny Depp go?’ So I found him and took a picture of him. I’m a big fan, I’m wowed by him. He’s a respectful artist and never caught up in bulls**t drama. He’s not Hollywood. He’s like us.”
Rupert Grint
Rupert Grint was so surprised when he met Michelle Obama – he felt the whole situation was dream-like and couldn’t believe it was happening: “I’m not easily impressed by famous people, but nothing’s matched this. I didn’t think I was going to be nervous, then this huge motorcade pulled up at the studio and Michelle stepped out of a black Range Rover and everybody was speechless. It’s hard to imagine (British Prime Minister) Gordon Brown having that kind of effect. We sat around, ate cake and chatted. She said that the President is a big fan of the films and loves the books, and that she’d met the Queen the day before – but visiting the Potter set was far more exciting, that we were a lot cooler. It was hard to take it all in. I kept thinking, ‘Here I am talking to the First Lady.'”
Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. says he waited 25 years of his life hoping to meet Steven Spielberg, and couldn’t believe it when it finally happened: “I couldn’t believe it. He’s over by the monitors and I’m like ‘Jesus Christ, there he is’ and he talks to me about a couple of things and then he leaves the set and I’m like ‘God darn it! I’ve only been waiting 25 years to have one of those moments.'”
Clive Owen
Clive Owen was surprised how down to earth Julia Roberts was when he first met her, and was happy to be working with the mega famous actress: “I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I mean, she’s probably the most famous actress in the world and you hear all this stuff and read all these things, but she couldn’t have been nicer to work with. She was so easy and there was no diva attitude at all, no big entourage of assistants and publicists. I really had a great time with her.”
