Not every celebrity relies on expensive beauty treatments and won’t touch cheap or homemade alternatives. These 5 celebrities all reveal that they love DIY beauty treatments made from simple ingredients you probably already have stashed away at home. Sharing their unique recipes that they’ve created themselves, these stars know how to create health-boosting hair masks, body scrubs and other treatments that make them look amazing, are very natural and are even budget-friendly too.
- Cate Blanchett
Cate makes her own body scrub from natural ingredients: “Olive and macadamia oils are really good for your complexion. Put one of them on in the shower and they make your skin zing. I incorporate them into a homemade scrub with grapefruit juice and sea salt—a beauty trick taught to me by a friend of mine.”
Jessica loves creating her own face scrub: “A great face scrub is to use yoghurt, ground coffee and coconut oil. Mix it all up, leave it on as long as you want and it will really exfoliate and hydrate your skin.”
- Martha Hunt
Martha has a special hair mask recipe: “I like to make a homemade egg white and rosemary oil hair mask, because my hair gets color damaged and so distressed from working with heat. The protein mask helps rebuild and strengthen my hair.”
Miranda loves making a body scrub from simple ingredients: “I do a body scrub with sea salt and coconut oil. It’s energizing. Coconut oil is a great, very multipurpose [product] — you can cook with it!”
- Padma Lakshmi
Padma mixes up several of her own treatments: “I make my own bath salts. I start out with simple Epsom salt, then I use Jojoba oil and put whatever essential oils I think I may need at that particular time. I’ve always made my own perfume and massage oil. It’s like cooking!”
