Picking up a few tips and tricks from the pros over the years, these 5 celebrities have shared their own top tips for creating unique eyeliner effects. Some use eyeliner to create cateye flicks, while others have tricks to make their eyes look less tired or bigger. Here are their eyeliner secrets.
- Alexa Chung
Alexa likes to use liquid eyeliner to create a cateye: ”[I like it] just for the effect. If you use kohl for a cat eye it smudges and moves around. A liquid will stay in a more graphic shape and you can do more illustrations with it. Kohl in my mind is more for underneath the eye and getting a smokier effect.”
- Drew Barrymore
Drew likes to create a cateye flick: ”Another tip is to take a liquid liner and give yourself a tiny little cat flick, start at the outer corner of the eye. It gives the illusion that people are now examining your eyes, the shape of them. It’s really [visually] grabbing.”
- Kate Moss
Kate likes to build up her eyeliner to a smoky effect: “I curl my eyelashes every day. My top tip is never curl them after you’ve put mascara on because your lashes become more fragile. I also always wear black eyeliner, I like to change my look so will either go for a subtle flick or really build it up for a smoky eye.”
- Nicki Minaj
Nicki opens up her eyes with an eyeliner trick: ”I always make sure I have perfect my eyeliner before I apply lashes. I have really small eyes so a liquid liner helps open them up and disguise the lashline.”
- Reese Witherspoon
Reese likes to use white eyeliner to perk her up when her eyes look tired: “Put a little white eyeliner in the centre of your inner eye when you’re tired. It makes your eyes look awake!”
