Is thin-shaming just as bad as fat-shaming? These 5 celebrities have all been called out for being too thin – and they’ve decided to respond to their weight critics. Saying they are healthy and don’t have an eating disorder, these stars have hit back to say that calling them out for being too skinny is just as bad as shaming someone for being overweight and no one should have their bodies judged by others.
Bethenny Frankel
Bethenny admits she doesn’t care what people say about her weight: “I feel like, who cares, they are always going to say something. I do have a brand called Skinnygirl, so I am going to get beaten up for it. It would be bad if I were overweight and had a brand called Skinnygirl, could you imagine?”
Denise Richards
Denise says she is healthy despite what people have said about her weight: “I don’t know why lately I’ve been getting so much flack for it. I have a very healthy lifestyle and I’m busy. What bothers me is I have three daughters. I’m such an advocate for health and fitness. In moderation, we eat ice cream all the time. I had grilled cheese before we got here!”
Kendall Jenner
Kendall thinks it’s awful to shame people for being too skinny: “I’m constantly criticized for being too skinny. I’m trying to gain weight but my body won’t let it happen. What people don’t understand is that calling someone too skinny is the same as calling someone too fat. It’s not a nice feeling.”
Millie Mackintosh
Millie has often been bullied for having very thin legs and she thinks people shouldn’t body shame her: “The main thing people say is, ‘Your legs are too thin’, but that’s actually totally natural. I got bullied at school, people called me ‘sparrow legs’, so it’s actually quite mean. You wouldn’t comment on a fat girl’s picture, so thin shaming’s not nice either.”
Zendaya
Zendaya tweeted back at her body critics to say her figure is very natural: “I’m naturally a skinny string bean and I love it. People be like “I can see her bones” ……um yeah good observation booboo, that’s called a clavicle. For anyone who can relate..people be like “I can’t even see her bones”..good observation booboo, that’s called a curve.”
