These 5 stars may be mega famous, but that doesn’t mean their lives are perfect – they’ve grown up without a father, or have memories of leaving their father and are now estranged from him. Enduring alcohol problems, abuse and fights, these 5 stars all ended up cutting ties with their father and haven’t reconnected since rising to stardom. Some say they are open to the idea of a reconciliation, while others are more wary and could be worried about their father’s motivation for reaching out or are simply not ready to forgive them for their actions yet.
Adele
Adele has previously said that she would “spit in his face” if she sees her father, but he continues to talk to the media about wanting to reconnect, commenting on learning that his daughter is pregnant: “Mum rang and said, ‘Mark, I’ve got some important news for you. Adele is expecting a child’. My first reaction was a surge of happiness for her. But as we chatted about how Adele had told her in person, it dawned on me that my daughter hadn’t wanted to tell me herself. My happiness for her turned to gloom because I realised I really was out of the picture as far as she is concerned. I would have loved so much to have been able to hold her in my arms and tell her how happy I was for her. I want more than anything to be part of her life again and to be a big part in my little grandson or granddaughter’s life.”
He continued: “I’m having to face up to the fact that I may never get to know my grandchildren and it is breaking my heart. Sure, I’ve done wrong and I should have been there for her throughout her childhood but I am desperate to make amends now. I am begging her to give me another chance. It breaks my heart to think I might not see her in the years ahead or hold my little grandchild in my arms.”
Kelly Osbourne
Kelly previously stated that she isn’t sure where her dad is but would love to meet him again:, “I don’t know where he is but I hope he’s not dead. That would break my heart. I remember my dad being drunk and aggressive towards my mom but not me. I don’t know if he knows who I am or what I’ve done. He must be hiding under a rock if he doesn’t.” Her father Christopher has since resurfaced and asked for a reconciliation: “Kelly, I love you with all my heart. Please forgive me and let me be your dad again. No parent should scream and shout in front of their child, and I am sorry to say there were too many times to mention that Kelly heard me screaming abuse at her mother. Sometimes she would run to her bedroom screaming, others she would cling to my trouser leg begging me to stop.”
Demi Lovato
Demi’s estranged father wants to get back in touch but her lawyers are blocking his attempts: “Demi won’t even talk to me. I don’t blame Disney (for her troubles)… Disney has been wonderful to my daughter. Now their lawyers are warning me not to say anything else. I would never blame Dianna. She is a wonderful mother. I love Demi, her sister, Dallas, and Dianna. I think about them all the time and I pray they are OK and safe.”
Courtney Love
Courtney’s father may be estranged from her, but he can see how they’re related: “She’s smarter than you. She’s smarter than me too. She has a photographic memory and an IQ in the super genius category. Hard to believe, I know, but I tested her when she was five and again when she was 16. She’s also a drunk, just like my father, and I have all the scars and the DNA to prove it.”
Christina Aguilera
Christina and her mother left her father, former U.S. army sergeant Fausto, when she was young, and although she reunited with him briefly in 2009, she decided not to keep up contact. Now she is reconsidering her decision: “I’ve talked about how rough things were for me and I’m sure he’s heard it. He can’t be thrilled about it. So maybe one day we can do lunch… I’m 31 years old now. Maybe it’s time.”
