Zooey Deschanel, quite unsurprisingly, has confessed that she is usually attracted to men who are intelligent and funny – in fact she believes these two qualities are the most important:
”I think intelligence and humour are probably the most attractive traits in a guy.”
Zooey says these days she has to make time for her friends as she doesn’t get to see them every day, but luckily she sees them regularly because she feels otherwise it just wouldn’t feel right. Although she can’t always hang out with her friends, she does try to make it up to them in other ways:
”I still have time for friends but it’s not like I see them every day. Unfortunately, it’s never the same as when you’re at school and you get to eat lunch every day with your friends. But if I didn’t have time for my friends that would be terrible. The one thing I can’t always give a friend is time, but I can be thoughtful in other ways instead.”
Zooey advises women not to cut themselves off from other women, even if it seems as though they are in competition with each other. She believes girls can also be really supportive and encouraging to each other which she feels is such a helpful thing – she wants people to know it’s not all about pleasing guys:
”Girls get competitive as though there’s only one spot in the world for everything – but that’s not true. Just because one girl gets something doesn’t mean you won’t get something else. I think we can make that less true if we encourage each other more. We need to stick together and see there’s more to life than pleasing men. It’s important not to cut yourself off from female friendships. I think sometimes girls get scared of other girls, but you need each other.”
