Vanilla Ice to Host Home Renovation Show, Make Weird Comeback (Again)

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - MARCH 27: Rapper Vanilla Ice (real name Robert Van Winkle) rehearses a performance of his 1991 hit `Ice Ice Baby' with The Sydney Dance Company ahead of a possible performance at Saturday's V Festival, at The Sydney Dance Company, Walsh Bay on March 27, 2009 in Sydney, Australia. Ice recently apologised on YouTube and the public have been asked to vote as to whether he is guilty or innocent of music wrongs as part of Virgin Mobile's 'Right Music Wrongs' campaign. If found 'guilty', Ice will have to apologise to fans on stage at the V Festival, or to perform his hit single if found 'innocent'. (Photo by Gaye Gerard/Getty Images)

This man might look like one of those younger dads who are trying hard to fit into the younger crowd, but wait a sec, it’s the uber famous, uber hot rapper/heavy metal singer that is Vanilla Ice, or if you want to call him by his real, even more embarrassing name, try Robert Matthew Van Winkle. You might remember his hit song “Ice, Ice, Baby” from whenever someone mentions ice, or bad haircuts.

Vanilla is set to make a deliciously weird, hopefully memorable comeback, and will be hosting a new reality show, which will follow him as he renovates his 7,000-square-foot mansion in Palm Beach. Vanilla has been asked to create 10 half-hour episodes for the first series of the show.

I guess you might think of this as a similar show to Pimp My Ride. Take a washed up car or home, add a dash of a rapper desperate for fame/recognition, add 100 widescreen TVs where ever they’ll fit, maybe a hot tub in the boot/basement, and your on to a winner. Don’t forget to add some oversized bling, doo rags and some practical jokes for good measure. “The Vanilla Ice Project” premieres Oct. 14 on DIY.
