“Ugly Betty” To Hit The Big Screen?

Ugly Betty actress Ana Ortiz (Hilda Suarez) has told Latina.com that she and fellow star America Ferrera are pushing for a move adaptation of the show:

“It’s something that we’ve been talking about and it’s something that America Ferrera would really love to do. That woman has so much determination that I can’t imagine anything she puts her mind to not getting done.”

I’ve never watched the show because it’s always seemed annoyingly campy and soap-y (says the girl who watches Gossip Girl and Glee religiously), but I know there are hardcore fans out there. The first Sex and the City was disgustingly successful and the second one looks like it will be, too, so clearly people don’t mind having characters they’ve loved for years reappear for two hours in a blatant cash-grab. …But mostly I’m just bitter because I’ve yet to get my damn Arrested Development movie.

So break out your ponchos, ladies and gays, and start lining up: Ugly Betty might fug her way into a theater near you sooner rather than later.
