Two SYTYCD Contestants Hospitalized

People.com is reporting that two of the top 4 dancers on So You Think You Can Dance? were hospitalized on Saturday after collapsing before rehearsal. They’re not naming nay names but here’s a quote from the article that gives us a bit more insight on exactly what is going on:

“Two went in [Saturday] and so there was no more rehearsals, and today [Sunday] all the rehearsals were called off,” ballroom expert and SYTYCD judge Mary Murphy confirmed to PEOPLE at Fox’s 2008 Teen Choice Awards in L.A. on Sunday. “The kids are completely dehydrated – two of them. I’m sure they’re doing a lot of blood work to see if there’s anything else.”

Mary also said that the dancers have been putting in 10-12 hour rehearsal days (crazy). We’ve never seen so many dancers injured during a season before. Hopefully the producers get the message that they’ve been pushing them a bit too hard this season. The taping for the show is supposed to take place tonight, so it will be interesting to see how things go down when the dancers only had a couple of days worth of practice.

Oh, and I’m also hearing that Nigel is leaving American Idol to focus more on SYTYCD. Honestly he just needs to back away from both shows, but I’m wondering why he needs more time to focus on a show that only runs about 12 weeks during the summer. Hmmm…..
