Taylor Swift has a bit of a thing about writing love songs and/or breakup songs about her ex-boyfriends – so much so that this time she has warned them. Taylor’s new album, Speak Now, reportedly references many of her past flames (including John Mayer!). Taylor explained to David Letterman:

“This is the third album that I’ve been doing this, so they had fair warning at this point.”

Taylor also says she wrote the whole album without any outside help:

“One of the things I’m really proud about on this CD [is] I wrote it by myself without any co-writers.”

She admits that a lot of the songs revolve around the things she encountered in life:

“For two years I was living life and I kind of write it real time. I wrote these moments in time. The songs are written when I’m feeling what it is I’m discussing in the song. It’s all kind of done when it’s happening.”
