Story of the Day: Jeremy Irons Talks About Groping Women!

Back in 2011, Jeremy Irons landed himself in some hot water after dishing out comments that made it sound as though he approved of groping women and that if they didn’t like it, they’d simply tell him to back off. Now the actor claims he was misquoted in the interview but at the same time admits he still loves “touching”. Jeremy also said in the 2011 interview that if women didn’t like being touched they’d “deal with it”. He said at the time:

‘If a man puts his hand on a woman’s bottom, any woman worth her salt can deal with it. It is communication. Can’t we be friendly?’

Now he has slightly backtracked on the comment, claiming he never used the word “bottom” (as if that is the only thing wrong with what he said). He still says that he loves “touching” but doesn’t make it clear if that means randomly groping strangers or not. He tries to clear up his mess while creating a new one by stating:

‘I love touching. I always touch people. I don’t think I said ‘bottom’ but of course I was misquoted. Basically, I said that any self-respecting woman would tell you to f*** off [if she minded]. I think we’re very robust as human beings.’
