Shock of the Day: Blake Lively Doesn’t Think Her ‘Gossip Girl’ Work is Her Best

Now that Gossip Girl is officially going to end, it’s fine to talk about how it wasn’t the best thing you’ve ever done, eh Blake Lively? Blake has spoken on how the show which launched her career gave her the great opportunity she needed to star in many other films, but she doesn’t think it has been her stand-out moment as an actress and she thinks the best is yet to come so she’s looking to the future:

“I think the best way to describe it is like someone who really enjoyed high school, and is like, I’m a senior and I can’t wait for the next thing! Gossip Girl was so great, but what’s the next challenge in life? Because, you know, six years is a long time. And as an actor who plays a caricature of myself on the show, I don’t think I’d say, Watch Gossip Girl for my best quality of work. But I am very lucky to have had that experience.”

Shocked? At least she is honest about it. Blake says she isn’t out to win the approval of others and is only setting out to please herself, although she obviously has to try and impress the director if she wants whatever she’s working on to pay off right? Anyway, she says she isn’t about to suck up to anyone:

“I’m not in the business of trying to win the approval of my cast members, my director, or my audience, if I were, I’d be so beaten down by insecurity that I’d never be able to perform. The only person I’m trying to prove something to is myself.”
