Salma Hayek has revealed that when she was pregnant with her daughter, her body became “disfigured” which at first shocked her and made her appreciate her pre-pregnancy body more. She believes the weight she put on along with the growing baby distorted her appearance and although she doesn’t regret it because she was given her daughter, she doesn’t sound to happy with how she looked during that time:
“I gained so much weight, I got an opportunity to see myself completely disfigured in many different ways — for a very good reason — and I don’t regret it for a second that’s when I started appreciating my body. The things that I used to criticize, they were not that bad after all.”
Salma admits there is a tonne of pressure of modern women these days, to be everything at once. She says it is almost impossible to be everything your expected to be and she believes women shouldn’t be so hard on themselves for not ticking all of the boxes:
“We’ve got to fight for our confidence every day in modern life because we live in a society that is very harsh to women, you have to be smart and successful and a good mother and beautiful and young and skinny forever.”
The actress believes the key to happiness is success and she is loving her life because she has found success in her home life and career:
Success is happiness, if you’ve found the right companion for life, a good relationship with loved ones, if you are healthy — my God, you are immensely successful.”
