Ryan Gosling Signs On For The Lovely Bones

I know a lot of people are looking forward to Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the best selling novel The Lovely Bones.  The movie is about a girl who is murdered and tells the story of her family coping with her death from heaven.  Rachel Weisz has already signed on to play the mother in the film and Ryan Gosling has just been cast as the father.  Yeah, he’s playing the dad of a 13 year old, which is kind of a stretch because in real life the kid would’ve been born when he was about 14.  But I think ultimately he can pull it off, especially if they give him a beard or something to age him.

Filming for the movie starts in November in Pennsylvania and, of course, New Zealand.

    Oh I like him. I read the book a few years ago, and I really liked it, it kept my attention. Sebold (the author) has a unique and vivid writing style. I’ll definitely try to see this movie when it comes to theaters.

    I might read it before it comes out, I keep hearing how good it is. The last two books I read have movies coming out…I never finished either. :/

    What did you read? I’ve been thinking about reading ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife,’ because I’ve heard good things about it, and it’s going to be a movie.

    Right now I’m reading ‘A Year of Magical Thinking’ by Joan Didion, who is a brilliant writer.

    I got exactly halfway through the Time Travelers Wife. And I read most of Perfume, that movie already came out actually.

    It’s like 99% romance, not even sci fi or anything like they make it seem. It was really good for the first half but then it got boring in the middle. I’ll probably finish it eventually, I think it gets better towards the end.
