How clever of the Queen!  She sees her country’s economy tanking which means that her salary will also dip. So what does she do? She kicks her grandson, William, in the butt and says 9 years is enough. And with the engagement news, the hoi poloi doesn’t need money or jobs any longer. The news media has something better to write about. Need food or medical care? Forget it Brits, you can get all your needs met vicariously. Just watch the Telly or read any of your newspapers to know all the joy of your royalty’s engagement. The US doesn’t get nearly the mileage from our movie stars weddings.  So some of this hype from England floats over the pond and we can bask in it, too.
