New Dior creative director Raf Simons has been receiving nothing but critical acclaim for his designs created for the historic Parisian fashion house. Now, his work is to be highlighted in a new documentary featuring him named ‘Dior and I’. Created by director Frederic Tcheng, the film will show the work Simons poured in to his debut haute couture collection for Dior, giving fans a rare view at the entire creative process, as well as the pressure many designers face – not to mention that Simons was creating her first ever designs under the Dior name. According to a press release, the new film is a “true labour of love by a dedicated, charming and often humorous group of collaborators” and a “colorful homage to the seamstresses of the atelier.”

The fashionable documentary film will debut at Tribeca Film Festival on April 17th and will focus mostly on the work of Simons but also the rest of the Dior team. The film hopes to give viewers at look at the everyday life that comes with creating a haute couture collection, including long hours and deadlines, as well as many other components that need to be balanced:

“Beautifully melding the everyday, pressure-filled components of fashion with a mysterious and elegant reverence for the history of this iconic brand, Tcheng’s colorful homage to the seamstresses of the atelier is nothing short of magical.”

Tcheng is no stranger to fashion documentaries – he previously worked on “Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel” and “Valentino: The Last Emperor.”
