Olivia Wilde has revealed that she once plucked her eyebrows to copy British model Kate Moss during the 90s and was always in awe of Kate’s look. Another one of her beauty icons is Katherine Hepburn, who she thinks knew exactly what suited her and always looked effortlessly beautiful by finding a great balance with makeup. Olivia commented:
“Kate Moss made me pluck my eyebrows! I tried to copy her effortless beauty in the ‘90s and was overzealous with the tweezers. She epitomises laidback chic – something I’m always trying to achieve, one way or another. Katherine Hepburn is my other beauty icon. She had a very strong jaw – like I have – which can look severe. I love how she played with eye make-up and lashes to compensate for it.”
Commenting on her hair colour, Olivia believes she looks best close to her natural hair colour, which is brunette, even though she has experimented in the past:
“I’m best as a brunette. I’ve changed my hair shade a lot – everything from blonde to black. But when I was pregnant earlier this year, I couldn’t dye it and fell back in love with my natural colour. We can chop and change our natural colour, looking for the optimum shade, but in the end, nature gets it right and we were born with what suits us best.”
When she felt her hair was very different from her natural shade, she tried to make up for it by wearing more makeup to add drama to her look:
“Being dark or blonde made me look washed out, so I’d compensate by wearing more make-up – a dramatic smoky eye, plus a lot of contouring to add definition.”
