Natalie Portman’s Ring Off the Hizzy; Eco-Friendly
Posted by Rebecca on January 27th, 2011No blood diamonds up in this mofo.
Portman is doing it all at once: the baby, the engagement…the….well, she’s doing two things. They’re pretty big, though, no?
At an estimated value of 35,000 smakers (that’s my salary!), Portman’s ring was meticulously designed by Benjamin Millepied, her dancer-model-superhero-sir hotness-rock hard abbed-fiance. It includes trecycled platinum, an antique center stone and accenting pavé diamonds taken from a conflict-free mine. It also has things like a health care program, peace in its middle-eastern regions and really, really good skin. Eff you, engagement ring.
According to the ring’s maker, ex ballerina Jamie Wolf,
“Ben was exceptionally thoughtful and dedicated and patient to make sure we had everything right…we wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie.”
Remember Natalie’s eco-friendly shoe line that went bankrupt in 2008? It doesn’t have a lot to do with this, but I totally just remembered that existed. Awesome.
