Lost Season 4 Premiere

Did I really just watch that? After eight long months of waiting, it almost doesn’t feel real!

Let’s jump right in and talk about Hurley’s flash forward first. He saw someone in a convenience store, goes on a car chase and then goes crazy and ends up back in a mental asylum, somewhat by choice. Lot’s of eyebrow raising moments here and foreshadowing.

One of the most intruiging parts of the whole episode was this guy, who claimed to be an attorney with Oceanic airlines. This show always does the best job of casting actors who just look….creepy. Don’t forget his face, I know for a fact that he shows up again soon. He asked Hurley “are they alive?”. Hmmm.

He also gets a visit from Charlie, who obviously went to rawk star heaven. Charlie tries to tell him “they need you”, but Hurley won’t listen.

And then at the end of his flashforward, Hurley gets a visit from Jack. Did anyone else think he looked skinnier? I’m not sure, he just looked really different in that scene for some reason. Anyways, this is before Jack goes crazy and he’s actually checking up on Hurley to see if he’s snapped yet. Hurley says something like “you’re checking up on me to see if I would tell” (I totally butchered that quote, but that’s the gist of it) and then talks about going back to the island, which Jack adamantly denies. Oh how things change in the future.

So the survivors are keeping a secret, but what is it and how does it pertain to those still on the island being alive or not? Or maybe that IS the secret.

Shoot, I just confused myself.

One more interesting Hurley moment. He sneaks off to my favorite place on the island; Jacobs creepy cabin. He hears the whispers and sees a man shrouded in darkness sitting in the rocking chair. We assume it’s Jacob but based on what I saw on TV and in the caps, I’m 99.9% sure that was Christian Shepard. Not to assume Christian Shepard isn’t Jacob though.

Hurley also sees the eye of someone else pop up (similar to the way they focused in on Jacobs eye last season, no?). At first I thought it looked like Locke but based on the cap I’m not convinced that it is. Maybe this is Jacob, but it sort fo looks like…..Mikhail?? This guy, the other guy is Christian Shepard, and this cabin just houses the souls of the dead?? Just a theory.

Back on the island we saw the group split in to two after Hurley makes a really poignant speech about believing Charlie. He, Sawyer, Claire, Alex, Ben, Karl and some other random people go with Locke. Now I can see why most of them went with Locke but obviously the only reason why the writers had Sawyer go was to separate him and Kate, and that’s romantic writing right there folks.

Oh and I can’t believe Jack was actually going to kill Locke! Just when I started to gain some respect for his character he goes and does something stupid.

Hurley also mentioned earlier on that he was a part of the “Oceanic 6″. [skip the rest of this paragraph if you don't want to know very mild spoilers] So six people get off the island, but what happens to all those other survivors (the extras, essentially) who go with Locke?? And shouldn’t be the “Oceanic 6 & Desmond”? Also, how does Hurley get off the island if he goes the other way with Locke? Obviously a lot still has to happen.

Last year when they started the flash forward and I found out it would continue, I honestly groaned. I was really worried that this was going to become The Nine, but it looks like the writers have created a great mystery that continues back in civilization and that’s something I NEVER saw coming!

Question For You….

Only seven more episodes….sigh. Even if it were sixteen it would feel too short! In the meantime be sure to read my Top Lost Moments. And I also want to know, what would YOU have done? would you have gone with Locke or stayed with Jack? To be honest, I probably would’ve stayed with Jack; if they have a boat and/or a helicopter, that’s all that matters to me.
