Lost 4.9: The Shape of Things To Come

Lost sure knows how to start things out (again) with a bang.

Wow, I’m still kind of stunned from that episode. You should’ve seen me during the final scene of the episode before tonights; my mouth just fell open when they killed Karl and Danielle, and then tonight, Alex too? I’m really surprised that they had the guts to kill off a young female character, especially in the manner that they did. It was real, it was gritty, and pretty shocking; I didn’t want her to die but good for them for pushing the envelope. Ben never should’ve played around with her life though. For the first time, someone out thought the master manipulator. What a shame that the last things she heard before dying was that her father didn’t love her.
And man, what a sad episode that was overall! In the flashbacks they showed us how Sayid and Ben ended up working together. Sayid finally found Nadia, married her, and in less than one year she was killed. Sucks. I loved the way they showed Ben smile as he walked away from him. The master manipulator is back!
They also added another layer to the plot tonight, so Alex’s death wasn’t purely for shock value. The last scene with Ben and Charles Widmore was great. Now, Ben wants revenge and he’s going after Penelope. Desmond won’t be happy! I can’t wait to see how this goes down. Charles says “you’ll never find her”. Wonder where he has her hidden? I’m really loving how Lost is sort of becoming a action/crime thriller now.

Also, Sawyer really played the part of the action hero, didn’t he? Im not to sure where they’re trying to take his character. Some people think they’re setting him up for some big death scene. I don’t think so; I think there’s going to be an on island plot after the Oceanic 6 get off, and he’ll probably be at the center of it. We’re talking way far in the future now, but I’m expecting him to make it through this series. The one I see dying at the end is Jack, but I seem to be in the minority thinking that! Anyways, I liked the ConMomma moments in this episode. Could that be a new pairing?
Hopefully next week we’ll get to see them go to Jacobs cabin! Seriously, Jacob intrigues me more than anything else on this show, at the moment. Him and Richard Alpert, who should be making an appearance soon. Can’t wait!
