Lana Del Rey Suffers From Stage Fright, Loves UK Fan Support

Lana Del Rey has revealed that she often struggles with stage fright, and often when performing finds herself breathless and overwhelmed, at least for the first few songs during a set, which might explain why her Saturday Night Live performance was so critically panned and sounded somewhat strange. Lana opens up on her problem:

”For some reason whenever I start each set I feel really nervous, so I’m completely breathless for my first song and a half, which is always interesting.”

Commenting on her quick rise to success, Lana says she was in the process of finishing her first album when Video Games became a hit, and from there everything happened. She says she is lucky because she was given free reign to make her own music videos:

”I was in California, writing the rest of the record, and someone said that ‘Video Games’ was being played in London, and after that happened everything started to happen – I got my first and second record deal straight after that, the best thing is that I got to make all my videos and I finished the record, and all of it is sonically beautiful.”

Lana says she loves how supportive her UK fans are, and she compliments them back by saying they have good taste. She admits to feeling more at home in the UK and loves that they all have great humor there:

”I feel better [in the UK], I like that people have good taste and they show it. I personally just feel supported musically, and other than that I guess the best thing is people are so funny, just straight off the bat, so funny right away.”
