Her dress may have caused her a brief moment of humiliation when she stumbled up the steps to accept her Best Actress award, but it was completely, entirely, extremely worth the embarrassment. Too artfully constructed by Dior designer Raf Simons to be labeled a ‘meringue’, Jennifer looked the part as she made her grand entrance at the 2013 Oscars. The strapless dress flattered her frame perfectly, showing off her waist and then flaring dramatically in perfectly constructed volume to create drama beneath the waist and climaxing in a short train behind her. Jennifer has been wearing plenty of Dior designs during the recent awards season and they’ve obviously been keeping this one for the big day.
She completed the event look with simple swept-back hair (not too groomed or fussy), subtle diamond earrings, minimal makeup and a small silver clutch. The light pink shade teamed up with her dewy, rosy complexion in harmony. Jennifer seemed to go into shock when her name was announced as Best Actress, so humble that she seemed to go through the motions in a dreamy daze, joking her way through her speech with the kind of down-to-earth beauty that truly deserves to be awarded. Jennifer may be clumsy, may often be labelled as “fat” so she says, but when it comes down to it, she seems to be the most true to herself and thus radiated a true modern elegance that no one else could rival.
