Intentional Idol Snub?
Posted by Tiff on May 30th, 2007
Fans of Katharine McPhee have been wondering if ‘American Idol’ intentionally snubbed the singer by not inviting her to perform on this season’s show. Apparently she’s wondering the same thing. Other ‘Idol’ alum came back, including Kellie Pickler, Elliot Yamin, and Chris Daughtry, both runners-up from the same season. Taylor Hicks, the season’s winner was also invited back for the finale.
“Katharine called them herself, trying to get on the [finale], she’s really hurt,” a friend of the singer reported.
Since she came in second, I would wonder, if I were her, why I wasn’t invited back…considering the third, fourth, and fifth place finishers got to come back. Maybe it’s because she’s openly said she really hated her first single that she was forced to release? After all, record companies aren’t friendly when you refuse to play the game their way.
ETA: Katharine fans, and idol fans in general are rebelling! Find out how you can stick it to the man here.

Well, I didn’t even read her statements about her record until after the show ended and the record company doesn’t have connections to AI anyways. But I feel really bad for her! Thats messed up to bring so many people back and ignore her. Im glad she boycotted the finale all together, I wouldnt have gone either.

I wasn’t a big fan of Katharine (or a fan at all, really) but I think she should have been there in the finale instead of [random guest performer].
I wonder if it’s because she’s a better vocalist than Jordin – and more “conventionally” pretty. Can’t have TCO being shown up by last season’s runner up, can they?

^GREAT conspiracy theory! I always noticed the similarities between the two of them, with Katharine getting the edge of course, but I never thought of that.
