But you know Madonna, she doesn’t seem to be all that happy and satisfied with life unless she is pushing the envelope *just that much*. Madonna opened the first night of her tour on the 23rd in Wales and while performing her single ‘Get Stupid’ her big screen was flashing pictures of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe alongside Presidential candidate John McCain.

And *just in case* one didn’t quite get Madonna’s point, she was then flashing scenes of Barack Obama alongside icons of a more peace loving nature such as Mahatma Ghandi and John Lennon. Tucker Bounds, a spokesperson for the McCain trail was outraged and he says

The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time…. clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits….

What? Smearing in an American political campaign? NEVER. I am sure that the saintly John McCain would never stoop so low.
I give her props actually, because clearly nothing illegal was done, and she did it brilliantly enough to toe the line just so ensuring her fans took whatever they wanted from it.

But you know, this is now…what will her next stunt be? Can’t wait to find out!

Remember the fabulous new single from David Archuleta I reviewed a few weeks ago? Well it was released to iTunes about a week ago, a this week he makes his chart debut at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot Digital Songs with 166k sold! This is the highest single debut from ANY ex Idol (excluding coronation songs, of course), and it’s the highest single debut in 18 months. Starting a chart run this high is huge for even an established artist, and David accomplished this before his song officially went out for adds. In other words, this is probably just the beginning of success for “Crush”.

So once again, where are ALL the people who mouthed off in the comments section about how he wouldn’t sell and couldn’t possibly be marketed? Anyone?? Bueller?

Avril was expected to begin a month long tour in Asia next week, beginning on Friday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but Malaysia’s Islamic opposition thinks her on stage antics are far too liberal for the Muslim nation. They used the excuse that Malaysian’s Independence Day was arriving on August 31, and that Avril’s concert would not promote the values that country has worked so hard to employ.

It is considered too sexy for us. … It’s not good for viewers in Malaysia,” said Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party official. “We don’t want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models.”

A protest letter has been sent to the Culture, Arts, and Heritage Ministry, as well as to the Kuala Lumpur mayor. As it stands now, an ‘official’ who wishes to remain anonymous, says the government has not given permission for the concert yet. Is that not a little odd to anyone? I mean….hm. Would a concert be booked, even in a foreign country, without approval from the government *in some way* first?

Something funny there….BUT, there may be hope yet. Yet another spokesman of the country says there is relative confidence in getting the permit, that *most* communication has been positive. HOWEVER this is another spokesman in Malaysia that is citing ‘protocol’ as a reason for wishing to remain anonymous.

Ok, I gotta know, what happens to the Malaysians when they are caught talking to the press??

If in fact the concert is a go, Avril will have to wear clothing without obscene or drug related images, and will need to be covered from the chest to the knees. She also won’t be able to jump, shout, hug, or kiss ANYONE in public.

Again, this is all too weird to me. Wasn’t a season of Survivor filmed there? From my recollection, that alone is a show where hugging, jumping, shouting, and kissing, occurs frequently. Furthermore, Survivor castaways are also definitely NOT covered from chest to knees at ANY given moment. Weird!

Music and money making mogul Simon Cowell knew he some some talent, and some prospective cash in the bank when he saw Zac Efron in ‘High School Musical’. With dollar signs in his eyes I am sure, Simon realized that Zac was not only a singing sensation, but also a very hot, and thus, very marketable piece of talent.

With that he approached Zac Efron about the potential to start a career as a solo singer. He even offered to pay for Zac’s flight to London to arrange the negotiations.

‘With my know-how and your voice, we can make millions.

It would be of no shock to the ‘High School Musical’ cast, as Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens have already releases solo albums and Vanessa is touring to promote it as we speak.

However, Zac wasn’t as keen on the idea as Simon may have thought. He wants to focus on his movie career, and less on the singing. And mentioned something rather cavalier to the effect of if he ever changes his mind, he would be the first to know.

Why do I get the feeling that when that time comes, Simon may be too busy with something else? So he doesn’t want a pop career, it still sounds a little prima donna to me. Perhaps pretty boy Zac may eat those words one day….

This morning American Idol 7 co-winner David Archuleta debuted his first single, “Crush” on Z100. So what’s the verdict on this mid tempo pop song? It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it will definitely be going on to my ipod. This is exactly the kind of thing I’m into right now, melodic with a strong baseline, kind of like “No Air” and “Bleeding Love”, and based on how those songs did things are looking up for Archie! I’m really surprised that this song isn’t WAY cheesier *coughTattoocough*, I expected total bubble gum but it’s a good mix of R&B/pop, so the songwriters did a perfect job of blending Archie’s sounds. Love the falsetto on the chorus too, that was a nice touch. Listen for yourself:

Yes, this girl’s horn is tooting large when it comes to trying to clean up her already ‘too sexy for 15’ image. She and her family have been making very loud claims about how honest and pure she is, and that she doesn’t want to be associated with anything sexual.

She has even gone so far as to say that she will be saving her virginity for marriage. All of this has everything to do with the fact that she is one of America’s most influential teenagers, and she desperately wants to get across the right image and be the role model that she is cracked up to be.

So then, I am wondering why she thought it would be a good idea to consider being a spokesperson for LifeStyles condoms. That’s right, Miley has been offered a one million dollar from the condoms giant to be their spokesperson, and the new face of LifeStyles Condoms.

The theory behind this is that Miley is aware of her influence on the American teenage public, and wants to maintain a good relationship with them, which thus makes her the perfect choice to share the message of safe sex.

Uh huh, yeah, that sounds like something a PR agent has spun in order to catch the commission off a $1 million dollar deal.

Because I’m thinking, how much sense does it make for someone to support abstinence one minute, and safe sex the next. And how much sense does it make for a 15 year old to be a spokesperson for condoms? Hm.
