In Philadelphia:

Plus pictures from the Grease Broadway premiere, on the flip side!

Constantine Maroulis has become quite at home on the CBS Soap, ‘The Bold & the Beautiful.’ Today, and Monday, the ‘Boldface Challenge’ airs on the show, where Constantine sings his new single “Fading Into You.” Also featured will be Jon McLaughlin and fellow ‘Idol’ alum Elliott Yamin.
Personally, I think “Fading Into You” is a great choice for a single. It would appeal to the mainstream, and it’s one of my favorite songs on the album.

Constantine hangs with his ex American Idol castmate Anthony Federov at an ESPN party in New York. Awesome that these two are still friends! And don’t forget to catch Constantine in concert along with another AI finalist, Elliott Yamin, tomorrow today on The Bold & The Beautiful. We’ll try to get video up for ya!

Kim here, blogging from Vegas with pictures from Constantine’s CD signing yesterday at FYE in NYC. How are you guys enjoying the album? I’ll be getting it soon hopefully, but can you believe a mall with over 250 stores has ZERO music stores? Ridiculous! Anyways, enjoy the pics:
And leaving TRL (boy does he look ecstatic!):

Remember to pick up or order your copy of Constantine’s debut self-titled CD - in stores and available online TODAY! It’s well worth it, trust me.
Also, this week, Kim is taking a bit of a holiday to celebrate her birthday and take some much needed time off. Happy Birthday Kim!
I return to you another year older, and with lots of celebrity gossip smack. Nice, yes? This week, I’ll also be getting some help keeping the blog going with a few of our blog friends, so look for that.
Let the gossip commence.

Sometimes, taking your time is better, which is something Constantine Maroulis proves in his self-titled debut album. The New Yorker did not seem to be in a rush to throw an album together following his sixth place shocking elimination on ‘American Idol’s’ fourth season. Instead, the singer took his time, and explored his options. Not only did he complete successful runs on and off Broadway, but the singer/actor also landed a role on the popular soap opera, ‘Bold and the Beautiful,’ all the while, touring, making appearances, and yes, putting together an album.
To sum up the album in two word would be to say the album is polished and solid. Saying the album is polished is not at all negative, in fact, it’s quite opposite. The songs reflect parts of Constantine, his “rocker” persona, his more mellow side, and his deviousness, all coming together to tell a story: a story of who he really is. It seems Constantine was purposely trying to set himself apart from others on the music scene. No two songs on the album are alike, and several have a decidedly eighties pop vibe, ‘Heaven Help the Lonely’ and ‘Fading Into You’ that are a breath of fresh air amid the manufactured pop that is so popular today. Fans of his former band, Pray for the Soul of Betty will be thrilled to hear its influences carry over into his solo work, particularly on ‘Child, You’re the Revolution,’ which almost sounds like a rock anthem of sorts for a new generation. Constantine’s charisma and playfulness shine on ‘Favorite T-Shirt’ and ‘Girl Like You,’ ‘I Thought It Was Something.’ And, things get more serious with ‘Sister, Sister,’ and ‘So Long,’ songs that are simple, but pack loads of emotion, not only in the lyrics, but also in his voice. ‘Right to My Head’ sounds reminiscent of Coldplay respectively, with a bit of feel good nineties rock thrown in, but is different enough that one almost forgets to make such a comparison in the first place. ‘Everybody Loves,’ the first single on the album is one of those songs that not only one wants to sing along with, but also, one is singing hours later. And lastly, Constantine wraps everything up in a neat little package with a nod to his pre-fame theater days with ‘Midnight Radio,’ from ‘Hedwig & the Angry Inch.’
While fans have been anxiously awaiting an album for years, one listen to this artistry proves the wait was well worth it. In perhaps one of the most calculated moves an ‘Idol’ finalist has made, Constantine has secured himself a spot as a Renaissance man, proving he can do it all, and he does it well.
