DJ AM, officially known as Adam Goldstein, made his first public appearance on Monday after he was involved in a Learjet crash that injured him and Travis Barker, and killed four others. One of the fatalities in the crash was Travis Barker’s assistant, Chris Barker, a man that was well known and well loved within the Travis and DJ AM circle. A memorial was held in Los Angeles on Monday for Chris and Adam arrived by limousine to pay his respects. An additional 300 guests attended the memorial and many folks stood up to share memories and tell stories of the young man in a service that lasted two hours. Chris Baker was described as Travis’s best friend and right hand man and his loss has devastated many.
Chris is survived by his wife, Otillia Villar and his two year old son Sebastian. Chris’s wife asked everyone to wear green for the event, no mourning garb allowed, as green was Chris’s favourite color and so Adam was more than happy to oblige. DJ Am was released last week from the burn unit in Augusta, Georgia where he was treated immediately following the crash, and Travis Barker was released this past Monday but was not able to make the service due to the extent of his injuries. We continue to wish DJ AM and Travis Barker a speedy recovery, and our hearts go to those that suffered losses in this tragic crash.

But that’s not all for Matilda. There is also a legal issue regarding an insurance policy that Heath had for $10 million dollars and Heath’s lawyer is suing the insurance company for death claims that have been unpaid, where Matilda is the sole beneficiary. Heath’s lawyer claims that the company is trying to avoid paying the claim but the insurance company, Relia Star has their own story. They claim that Heath lied on his insurance paperwork, and that they are still considering his death a suicide. The lawyer retorts back saying that no, if Relia Star had issues with Heath’s credibility, that would have had to have been investigated BEFORE his death, and that further, Heath’s death has been completely investigated and there is absolutely NO evidence or declaration of a suicide. But the lawyer doesn’t want to drag it out saying the suit could take YEARS to resolve, as Relia Star will be taking depositions from just about everyone they can in order to prolong the process.
My thoughts on that? Well, you know the lawyer is in a rush to collect his contingency, but that’s about the only 9-1-1 I see here. She’s 2. She JUST inherited $20 million. And Mom isn’t exactly collecting welfare to support her. If it takes some time, so be it. She’s 2.

What is the real connection between Mary Kate and Heath Ledger? Is Mary Kate hiding something about Heath Ledger’s death? It sounds like it as ever since the death of Heath Ledger, Mary Kate has been linked to the death, or to Heath, in a hush hush kind of way, and now some information is coming out that is strengthening that link.
Mary Kate has definitely been questioned on her relationship with Heath, and particularly about his death. The bulk of her questioning has been surrounding the issue of how Heath got the drugs that killed him, and it sounds like Mary Kate knows a little something about that. Her lawyer says that she has already provided investigators with ‘relevant information’ but it doesn’t seem to stop there.
It sounds like Mary Kate could have some information that will incriminate her, as she is now seeking immunity before she will cooperate further with the investigators looking into Heath’s accidental overdose.
Heath was found in his apartment on January 22nd by his housekeeper, and before she called 911, Mary Kate was the first phone call. Autopsy reports showed he had pain killers, anxiety meds, and sleep meds in his system. With the exception of Oxycodone and Vicodin, investigators have found prescriptions for everything in Heath’s system.
But those two powerful pain killers were not prescribed to Heath, and this may be where the Mary Kate link comes in. At first she said she didn’t know where he got them, but now is seeking immunity so… Her lawyer’s statement is as such:
“Regarding the government’s investigation, at Ms. Olsen’s request, we have provided the government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger’s death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed,”
My only question is the obvious one, and I can’t be the only one seeing the elephant in the room. If Mary Kate is innocent and doesn’t know anything, what on earth would she need immunity for?? Hmm…

Haydn, the estranged uncle, says there is a very real possibility the love child is Heath’s, but Heath’s immediate, AKA not estranged family, has not made comment about it. The rumor though has been known within the family for some time, and though Haydn is not confirming it, he IS not shy about saying it’s a possibility.
Could Mr. Haydn be looking for a little time in the spotlight perhaps? Hmm, you have to wonder when relatives come crawling out of the wood works after a celebrity death. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
If this does come to fruition, it could make things worse for an already bad estate situation. Heath’s will had no mention of Matilda, which is not uncommon if parents do not update their will’s after the birth of a child, and his entire estate was left to his immediate family – mom, dad, and 3 sisters.
Heath’s dad has said Matilda will be taken care of, but there is still quite a bit of uncertainty there. The will situation hasn’t hit the courts yet, so the families feud on. Nice. Nothing like letting a poor man rest in peace, and letting that poor little girl move on with the long life she has ahead.

The estate of Heath Ledger began disbursement on Monday to some surprising results. Heath Ledger’s ex Michelle Williams and daughter Matilda stand to receive absolutely nothing from Heath’s estate, and there was no mention of either of them in the will.
This is not uncommon actually, and was certainly not an act of spite on Heath’s part. Things like this happen when wills are left without getting updated when family circumstances change, which is exactly what happened in Heath’s case. Heath’s will was originally developed in 2003, and this was well before he had even met Michelle, or obviously, had a child with her.
Heath’s will lists his assets as a grand tune of $145 K and this will be divided among his parents and three sisters. I don’t know a lot (almost nothing actually) about estate law, particularly in the state of New York, but I do think immediate family members are able to contest wills when new heirs are added before the will is updated again.
But is it just me, or is it ODD that Heath’s estate has managed to amount to a mere $145,000? I am sure Michelle’s apartment is even worth more than that. I would imagine that Brokeback Mountain raked him in a little more than that….but heaven only knows with these celebrities.
However, I think Michelle is probably doing pretty well what with a number of works in progress, and I don’t think Matilda has to worry about her future. To add to this, it sounds like Matilda’s grandparents aren’t heinous fiends, as they’ve also stated that Matilda will be looked after regardless of what is stated in the will.

Whenever someone dies of causes related to prescription medications there is going to be some fallout, for somebody, even when the ‘victim’ isn’t a major hunky celebrity. In this case, there is a doctor in California and one in Texas who are being investigated by the federal drug authorities regarding Heath Ledger’s death. It has been made official that Heath died of an accidental overdose, and the autopsy is pointing to a lethal combination of prescription drugs. The drugs in question were Oxycontin and Vicodin, two pretty potent painkillers. At the time of his death, Heath also had in his system some Valium, Xanad, and Temazepam, an anti-anxiety drug. Add this to an antihistamine used for sleep assistance, and well, it’s a pretty powerful bag of tricks to have consumed in a short time span.
Right now it’s the Oxycontin and the Vicodin that are being investigated, and it’s being questioned whether or not the prescriptions were prescribed legally or not. And I am neither a pharmacist nor a doctor, but I’m looking at this arm length list of meds and questioning the whole thing myself. Why one earth would anyone be given not one, but TWO major pain killers at the same time when they are already on a slew of anti-anxiety and sleep aids?
Hmm…makes you wonder, somebody definitely screwed up here. But me thinks this is one of those situations where we will never hear the whole story.
