Idol Tidbit: After last nights result show they had a coin toss to determine the order of last weeks finale. The winner? Archuleta, who decided to go second. Five out of six finales the contestant who went second won, the only exception was the only other male/male finale.
Oh and my bb Michael got a standing ovation from the crowd! [MTV]
Tonight, the final three contestants will become two. We will finally know who will make it to the finale on ‘American Idol’ season 7, with a chance to become the next ‘American Idol.’ It’s down to David Cook, David Archuleta, and Syesha Mercado.

Tiff: The final three performed “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now.” David Archuleta sounded a little flat…. they sounded good singing together, but I’d feel really silly doing those moves.

Tiff: Former ‘Idol’ winner Fantasia Barrino came back to perform and showed off her bright red hair. Simon looked less than amused during her performance. Yeah, I’m sorry.
Kim: That was easily the most entertaining this this season. Thank you Fantasia. Thank you.

Tiff: David Archuleta was asked to come out first, and they showed more of his hometown video. He was cute after when he said it was embarrassing because they showed a lot of him crying. The show was really playing up the potential of a”shocker” because Ryan was saying “This could be David’s last time on the stage, we want to celebrate his time here,” before he saw a video of his journey. Then, Syesha Mercado was asked to join Ryan center stage, where she got to see more of her hometown video, and then the video of her journey as well. And last, David Cook was also asked to join Ryan, where he also got to see more of his hometown video, and a video of his time on the show.
Kim: Gosh.
The Person Going Home Is

Tiff: Syesha Mercado. Poor David Archuleta seemed like he was about to pass out after he was told he was going to be in the finale. This is what I wanted, and predicted earlier in the season. David Cook or David Archuleta will be the next ‘Idol.’
Kim: WHAT?!? You predicted that? You really went out on a limb there! You must be psychic because NO ONE saw that coming! Brother…
SOMEONE does not look amused.
And a big HA HA to all the Cooktards who wanted little David out!
Suuuuucks tooo beeee yooouuuuuu :*
Next Week…David vs. Goliath The Giant (Forehead)

Tonight, things almost come to an end. The final three, David Cook, David Archuleta, and Syesha Mercado sing three songs each on ‘American Idol,’ season 7. The performers choose one song, a judge chooses a song, and the producer chooses a song.

Tiff: David Archuleta was set to sing “And So It Goes” from judge Paula Abdul. The acapella beginning for the song was a very smart choice, because it really showed David’s voice, and of course, I loved the strings. It was a good song choice for him. I agree with Simon in that it was predictable, but he did well.
Kim: I wish she would’ve given him something more exciting, but boy did his voice sound FLAWLESS. The a capella in the beginning was really beautiful. Would’ve been nice if he had played piano on this one, but he always sounds better when he doesn’t. I don’t like what he’s wearing though.

Some of these are technically still rumored but I’m 99% sure that they’re right. TMZ should post the official spoilers soon!
ETA: The TMZ spoilers are in. There were some song changes and I don’t like them…

Do you ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes? Or how the parents are really handling all of this newfound fame and glory for their kids? We never really hear about any of the real life stuff unless someone’s made a sex tape, been a former porn star, gotten arrested, or has a rap sheet.
So, this year, and only just recently, things have gotten a little heated in the backstage scenes of American Idol.David Archuleta apparently has a stage dad from hell, and the Idol producers are NOT happy. Last week, David’s dad was seen yelling at David to the point of reducing David to tears, and producers quickly learned that this stage dad had control issues that were less than appropriate for the already tense set of American Idol.
David’s dad, Jeff crossed the line by insisting that David change the lyrics to ‘Stand by Me’. The change was to include a verse from Sean Kingston’s ‘Beautiful Girls’ and because copyrights need to be purchased for every song performed, Idol producers were racking up some bills as a result.
They put their foot down, Jeff got irate, and he’s facing some consequences. The Associated Press is reporting now that Jeff Archuleta, David’s dad, has now been banned from any Idol rehearsals. Jeff will not be allowed to help David prepare for the show’s performances, which for David, the producers are thinking it may be a good thing.
At this point however, both Fox and the Archuleta’s aren’t commenting, so everyone is just pretending it all didn’t happen I guess.
Now David will be able to perform without the added stress, but will this help him or hurt him? Well, we will know this week, won’t we?

Okay I had these written up yesterday, and yes spoilers have already come in for next weeks Final 3 song choices , but I’m not letting this post go to waste! The funny thing is, ONE of my choices is actually right but for a different contestant. See if you can guess which one it is (and if you do, you really deserve the gold star for the day) and then click the link at the bottom of the post so see the real song spoilers (three in so far).
And Tiff got one right, see if you can guess it!
Little David
Kim: He was by far the hardest one for me to pick for. He really needs to show more versatility, and I tried to pick songs that would challenge him but still fit him, so here goes! Apologize by One Republic; he has enough of an R&B vibe to pull it off and he needs to show that he can do something current. A totally unpredictable choice would be Hide & Seek by Imogen Heap, which he can make his own by adding some of his runs in there (see Ben McKenzie’s version) and maybe doing it a capella, or at least acoustic. And then closing the night with Remember When it Rained by Josh Groban, which is in his comfort zone, yes, but it’s also one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and if he can make it work with just the piano it WILL be his moment.
Tiff: “To Where You Are” - Josh Groban, “How to Save a Life” - The Fray, “Tears and Rain” - James Blunt, “The Sound of Silence” - Simon and Garfunkel
Syesha
Kim: We want to see Syesha be fun and sassy for at least one performance, and I think she could totally own Free Your Mind by En Vogue. Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton would be a good one for her too. And she also needs that one slow and poignant ballad (with dimmed lights, of course) that will seal the deal for her. I’d pick The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack.
Tiff: “Big Girls Don’t Cry” - Fergie, “Almost Lover” - A Fine Frenzy, “Samson” - Regina Spektor, “Gravity” - Vienna Teng
David C
Kim: For something fun and current, Paralyzer by Finger 11, which is a song that I absolutely hate but it’s perfect for his voice. Then I think he should do a slowed down version of Prayer ‘94 by Bon Jovi (yes Tiff, like Lukas), reminiscent of his audition. And also Behind Blue Eyes by The Who (but more along the lines of the Limp Bizkit arrangement, unfortunately), which is a really haunting song that once again, fits his voice to at tee. And I still like my choice of When Doves Cry from last week.
Tiff: “Boston” - Augustana, “Hide & Seek” - Imogen Heap, The World I Know” - Collective Soul, Falling Slowly” - The Frames/Glen Hansard
Note: If the pattern continues, whoever Simon chooses for will win and whoever gets Paula will get cut this week. Click to see spoilers.
ETA: A couple of rumors added.
ETA2: Another rumor for David A. in.
