Kristy Lee Cook Gets Signed

Woah, I haven’t covered any AI news in such a long time! But this is definitely noteworthy. Kristy Lee Cook is the first non top 2 contestant from S7 to get a record deal. Surprising, right? Wrong! At least not to anyone who’s the least bit industry/marketing savvy (like us!). Country fans will buy AAAAANYTHING, especially if it can carry a tune and comes in a cute little wholesome, blonde package. Kristy signed with 19e/Arista Nashville label….the same label she was signed to years ago but was shelved before releasing anything. Her first single, “15 Minutes of Shame”, is set to drop August 11th.

    I guess if Jessica Simpson can be successful in country music then she can too.

    LOL…thank goodness I’m not the only person who thinks this. There’s good country music out there, but there’s also a lot of crap on a stick. And if the crap on a stick is being pushed by a thin blonde, it’s guaranteed to be a hit.

    Sad.
