Reports are circulating that ‘American Idol’ season 7 finalist, Luke Menard, has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Word apparently came from a friend of Luke’s, though no official confirmation has happened. Fox refused to comment, noting they do not comment on contestants’ lives.

I never cared for Luke, but if it’s true, it’s sad.

Update: Thanks to you all, I have an update. Apparently, the “inoperable” part isn’t true. And, he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which is one of the most treatable cancers, which is good news. Best of luck to Luke & his family.

In other ‘Idol’ news, I (Tiff) am rooting for David Cook tonight. And, Access Hollywood confirmed his brother, Adam, who has brain cancer, will be in attendance. However things go, he’ll do fine, but I really want him to win.

It’s not inoperable, apparently that was a rumor. They found a mass in his chest/shoulder area. So sad, he’s got a wife and a couple of kids.

  2. Tiff Says:

Yeah it is sad. OK reported the inoperable part. Hopefully he can be treated.

It’s Hodgkins Lymphoma. He has a good chance of survival.

the stage 2 inoperable thing is false.

  6. Kimberly Says:

^Hey Audrey! *waves* You have great taste! Steak >>> Sizzle, definitely.

    Thanks for the info Hattie.

  7. Kat Says:

The latest rumor I heard was that the cure rate for his type of cancer is 93%. Regardless, my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Plus, I never thought he got a fair shake on the show.

  8. Karen Says:

Cure rate or not, people die from Hodgkin’s lymphoma all the time. And it is inoperable. The cancer stays in your body to fight it, they can’t remove all your lymph nodes or you die. There are people who relapse and die, there are people who have chemo-resistant (refractory) Hodgkin’s Lymphoma who can be treated to stay a live but eventually die from it. it is not good news in any way shape or form. And even when you survive the cancer it has a way of ruining your life for a long time afterward.
