AI 7 Finale Watch

Thank God it’s almost over! So, this will be our official post to keep track of all the American Idol finale rumors, spoilers and speculated performers. First off, it looks like there will be a slightly tweaked format for the finale showdown, and this is pretty much confirmed by a very reliable source. The Davids will sing:

-A song choice from Clive Davis
-A reprise or a new song
-The coronation song
-Top 2 duet on “Beauty & the Beast”

Here I thought they put grampa Clive out to pasture, but it looks like he’s getting one last shot at this. I’m sure he’ll choose a 50 year old lullaby for little David and a hit, current, and modern choice for Bobblehead. All from the Sony/BMG family catalogue, of course.

Coronation Song
You can listen to all the songs in the running here. I would be highly surprised if anything other than “Somewhere Like Heaven” (which would be my choice, it fits both of them also) or “No Turning Back” wins. The latter has been very popular online and it’s a great fit for Cook, but I think it’s pretty ugly (ironically).

Some added news…word is going round that Nigel confirmed that the top 2 can choose the song from the top ten voted by the public. They’ll also be allowed to arrange the song how they want, which is to Cooks advantage because he can simplify it for his voice. This is what I thought they should’ve done last year, and had Blake been their “chosen one” I’m sure they would have.

This finale is just as contrived as this season. No wonder the ratings are in the toilet.

Two contestants from each season. I think my old info was false; I’m not exactly sure which winners/contestants will be there except Bo & Carrie.The SYTYCD? dancers.

The “biggest star in the world” says Nigel. In other words, something gimmicky and ultimately disappointing.

Rumored Finale Performances

I’m hearing the top 5 are doing duets with “famous” artists, because you know, Brooke, Jason and Syesha are oh so exciting to watch.

The top 2 singing with Neil Diamond and Mariah Carey.

Carrie Underwood performing “Last Name”. Someone should let them know she is NOT the reigning AI.

The Top 12 performing with Paula.

David C. & Mariah Carey singing “Always be My Baby”
