Lost 4.10: Something Nice Back Home

This is SO late and that’s because I totally forgot to post it earlier! I’m not letting it go to waste though; better late than never, right? Actually, posting my Lost journal later isn’t completely a bad thing since there are so many things that you realize later (although Ive probably forgotten the things I notice right off the bat, darn).
Let me just say, that as a Skate shipper, I hated these flashbacks with the burning passion of 10,000 fiery suns.

Hated. Jack/Kate playing house? Blech, give me a break. There was a moment last season when I almost crossed the line into being able to tolerate Jate (you know, the scene when he whispered in her ear that gave us all chills) but this episode confirmed two things
1. Jack sucks
2. Jate is gross
As I so articulately put it. There’s something about the way the flashbacks were written that rubbed me the wrong way. It was beyond soapy, it was in fan fiction territory, and that’s pretty much the lowest common denominator. It starts off with them living together, with no explanation of how they got back together after the trial, and then they get engaged, and then of course Jack has to screw things up as he always does by getting uber jealous. Now Jack wasn’t that much of a jealous person on the island, so that was either extremely OOC or something major happened regarding Sawyer. Kate was probably just doing something for Sawyers daughter, so what’s the big deal? A gry, drunken Jack scares me. I really thought he was going to hit Kate or something. But I love the way he used Sawyers “sonova*beep*” in the beginning.
Jack flashback = boring, Kate flashback = boring, Jack & Kate flashback = comatose. This episode reminded me of I Do and that was one of the worst episodes (off island, at least).

Wow, Hurley’s mental state seems to be getting worse and worse; it’s so sad to see him that way. But I’m sure it has less to do with mental illness and more to do with what happened on the island (and now, off the island). What did Hurley mean when he told Jack he wasn’t supposed to raise Aaron? I’m sure it ties back to the whole “raised by another” thing, but I always thought it meant “raised by an other”. Is it specifically about Jack? What about Kate raising him? But the biggest question is…why is this kid so dang important? I mean, he must be a big piece of the puzzle to the mystery behind Lost.

Back on the island, Jin threatened Charlotte to make sure Sun gets off the island. A lot of people were alarmed by this, they thought Jin was returning to his old ways and not caring about the other survivors. I didn’t read it that way, he’s just putting her first, as he should. It’s not like he’s going to go and shoot two innocent people to save her *nudge nudge*. He just wants to ensure that she’s one of the ones safe.
And then there was his whole thing with Charlotte liking Faraday and vice versa. Yawn. I don’t care, the only freighty I’m interested is him, and certianly not her.

They’re continuing to give Sawyer his hero edit. I think they’ve been setting us up since last season to see Sawyer in the role of Jack, once Jack leaves. Save the constant crying, I’m sure.
I just KNEW they were going to find that baby in the forrest alone! Christian Shephards ghost takes his daughter Claire away; but where? And why her and not his son? And maybe that baby isn’t all that important considering the kid was just left in the jungle; maybe it’s Claire who is important? I have a feeling they might not find Claire any time soon.
Well, this episode wasn’t awful, just not as good as the week before. I’m glad no one died, but they shouldn’t say someone will die if they’re not. This week should be great! More Jacob, gah, that’s the most intriguing part of the show for me. Hopefully we’ll see Richard, and more Desmond/Sayid if we’re lucky.
