American Idol Top 4 Song Suggestions

Thank God for the show finally picking a semi interesting theme this season; songs from the rock & roll hall of fame. And contrary to what most probably think, I’m not assuming this will be Cook-o-rama (read below). This SHOULD be a good show, the rock themes usually are (see Bon Jovi and Queen night), let’s hope they don’t screw it up.

Syesha
I really hope she stays away from anything Aretha, except for maybe I Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love You). My top choice for her would be Moondance by Van Morrison; with the right arrangement it will fit her sultry, Broadway style. A fun one would be I Want You Back by Jackson 5.

David C.
This won’t be as easy as most people think. The theme favors him, therefore more is expected from him, he’ll be compared to the original, yadda yadda yadda. So he should pick something he can still rearrange, like When Doves Cry by Prince, or a challenging rock song like Money by Pink Floyd. And then for the second round I’d LOVE to see him take on Suspicious Minds by Elvis :) . While wearing ski goggles. Proceeded by him discussing his choice of underwear.

Little David
It’d be nice if he could nail another up tempo like he did in week 1. Hasn’t happened again since but maybe he can do it on I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye (a Jackson 5 song would be too cheesy), and I’m sort of weary about him taking on Stevie Wonder again but Livin’ For The City fits him (but it’s Taylor’s song!). And he needs to sing Your Song by Elton John, without the piano, please.

JCast
There’s a bunch of songs I can hear him singing; When You Believe in Magic by The Lovin’ Spoonful, Stand By Me by Ben E. King, or the slightly predictable No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley. He can probably make just about any of these songs fit his style. Even though it was done last year, I’d like to hear what he would do with Roxanne by the Police. In the Still of the Night by The 5 Satins could be good too.

Blacklist: Chain of Fools, Respect, Let’s Stay Together.

I’d LOVE Cook to do Suspicious minds, but that’s the song Chris Daughtry sang and got eliminated.. he’ll get compared to Chris, and it probably won’t go Cook’s way.

    ^Exactly! :)

I’m a young British AI (especially DC and sorely missed Kristy) fan! Here are my ideas!

Jason - God Only Knows (Beach Boys) - in his comfort zone - and Oh What A Night (The Dells) - not as sure on that one but it’s different for him, could work!

Syesha - Stop (In The Name Of Love) by The Supremes and Disco Inferno by The Tramps would be a nice contrast I think and neither song is overused on these shows.

David A - Totally agree about Your Song, that’s my top pick for him too but I don’t mind him using the piano. Everybody Needs Somebody To Love (Blues Brothers) may be a good upbeat choice for him and not as challenging as the Stevie stuff - probably not as overdone either.

And for my favourite, David COok I would choose Space Oddity (David Bowie) - because my parents like to refer to me as an Oddity! and although it won’t happen, White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane) - it would be interesting to hear a guy (especially such a good one!) sing the song that got me through an X Factor audition! Those choices are unlikely, but not as selfish as they might sound - I think they’d both really suit him!

As for group songs maybe Dancing In The Street (Martha and the Vandellas) or U2’s Pride (In The Name Of Love) would work, the group number was a bit disjointed last qeek and I’m not liking seeing David C stood by anyone other than Kristy but he’ll still be great! :D

^Not feeling those choices, especially for Syesha. Those songs are both really karaoke.

If DC does Space Oddity, it should be like this http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua36tSxviu0
