American Idol Top 5: Neil Diamond
Posted by Kim on April 30th, 2008 filed in American Idol
Tonight, we’re subjected to not one but two songs from Neil Diamond.
Jason - Forever in Blue Jeans & September Morn
Meh, everything he does is exactly the same. The first one was, as Simon said, completely forgettable, but the second one was a tad bit more tolerable.
David C. - Im Alive & All I Really Need Is You
Yay, the inarticulate grumble is back. Sigh. The first one sounded ROUGH, and his second performance had it’s nice moments as well as it’s shouty moments, but most of it I just couldn’t understand. Certainly not “brilliant” but it did sound very current. And wow at his hair growing a couple of inches in just a matter of days. Heh.
Brooke - I’m A Believer & I Am I Said
Key was a bit low for her on the first one. And even beyond that, why would she pick that song? And whhhhy subject us to the “woo’s” again? Now her second number was closer to the Brooke we knew and loved back in the beginning of the show, but it was still very “been there, seen that”; she’s done that before so many times.
David A. - Sweet Caroline & America
Started off cheesy and karaoke, and oh boy, he pulled a Kristy on the second one! Eh, I still wasn’t impressed with “America”. Lil David was off his game tonight.
Syesha - Hello Again & Thank the Lord for the Night Time
Well she looked pretty and sounded pretty on the first song, but there was nothing special about it. She wins the first round but that doesn’t say anything. The second was cute and fiesty. Overall, she was the best of the night.
SYTYCD?4 starts May 22nd! I can not wait! Please don’t suck!
Oh and Paula’s crew up about Jason’s performance was pretty funny. Most of us know they listen in on the dress rehearsal performances, she just got confused.
Rank
- Syesha
- David C.
- David A.
- Jason
- Brooke
B2: Jason & Brooke (or is that too obvious? I’m sort of worried for little David…)
Should Go: Either one
Will Go: Jason
Stick a fork in him, Jason is done. And I mean that in a way that he seems to have mentally checked out of the competition. He had a good run, but it’s time or him to go. Before he’s the worst.
Btw…next week theme is supposed to be songs from the rock & roll hall of fame. (source: idolforums.com)

^I was just HINTING at the fact that he’s been wearing clip ins for a while now. It’s especially obvious if you watch the making of the ford video from last week.

It’s funny how Syesha can perform technically well and be the best of the night, and yet I still want her off my screen so badly. Last night I just wanted to smack the smile right off her mug. The little knowledge I have about her backstory prevents me from full-out hating her, but I’m just incredibly put off by her constant pageanty “acting.” Blech.

I think anyone of them could go home after last nights suck-fest.
