American Idol 7: The Top 12!

Tiff: Tonight, four more contestants [two guys and two girls] were eliminated from ‘American Idol’ season 7. When the night was over, the top 12 was revealed.

Tiff: Past ‘Idol’ alumnus Blake Lewis performed tonight, singing, “How Many Words,” which is perhaps my favorite song off of his debut label album, ‘Audio Day Dream.’

Kim: That was a pretty tight performance! Blakey brought the VMA’s to the AI stage! (but honestly I was hoping for “Here’s My Hello”) Hopefully he spent some time with the contestants, and told a couple of them that you really can come up with your own arrangements!

Tiff: And now for the eliminations….

The Girls

Tiff: The first girl voted off was Kady Malloy. It was then between Kristy Lee Cook and Asia’h Epperson. The second girl to leave was Asia’h Epperson.

Kim: You were right Tiff, in your prediction that she would make the top 16. Unfortunately for her, my prediction of her not being able to find her personality and going down hill was also correct. This girl could’ve been a force to be reckoned if she only knew how to perform!

And I’m sure some people are surprised about Asia’h going, but if you read my predictions last night, you’ll know that I’m not, at all. I never liked the girl so I’m not complaining, and Kristy will make great cannon fodder for the top 12.

The Guys

The first guy voted off was Luke Menard. And it was between Danny Noriega and Chikezie. The next guy to leave was Danny Noriega.

Tiff: What was with Paula saying this was the beginning of his career? I really don’t think Luke is good. I thought Chikezie was really sweet trying to console Danny, and I felt sorry for Danny because he was so upset. And poor Ramiele seemed like she’d have a breakdown.

Kim: Ugh, watching Danny go was just brutal! BRUTAL :( He was on of my faves, and I liked him a bit more than Chikezie, but Chikezie deserves his place in the top 12, definitely. A couple of weeks ago I thought for sure Danny would be a part of the top 12 and I’m definetly going to miss him.

As for Luke, I agree with Paula, he’ll have a career. In fact I hear there’s an opening at Dick’s Cabaret….

I can’t really complain about the top 12, I honestly thought there would be more surprises/mistakes. And you guys don’t know HOW happy I am that David H. made it! I really thought he was toast.

    Oh Kim, my heart was breaking for Danny, I really liked him alot. He would have definitely kept Simon on his toes for sure. He was fun, loved the purple hair and everything about him. Too bad. I am a little surprised about Mr Walking Hotness Austrailia though. He seems to be running in the middle of the pack as opposed to being one of the number 1 guys now. Hopefully he finds ‘the right song’ and blows everybody away soon.

    If there wasn’t a quota for males and females, Danny would still be there, definitely. It’s really our loss that he’s gone though!

    Oh and Aussie Hottie will bring it back, eventually, I’m sure!

    I wish there didn’t have to be an even amount of guys and girls because I like the guys much better than the girls this year. I think Beatles week is going to be veryyyy interesting, I think it may be hardest on Amanda. But, have you seen Across the Universe. I think Amanda could definitely tackle Helter Skelter, Oh! Darling, or Do it In the Road after seeing Dana Fuchs do it in the movie (she has a Janis voice too).

    But, I’m happy with the top 12 this year, unlike years past. And I loved loved LOVED Blake’s performance! Oh and PS, yall have become my favorite gossip site, for sure :)

    I watched ATU a couple of weeks ago and it helped me a lot because Im not that Beatles savvy. Ive been thinking Helter Skelter of She’s So Heavy for Amanda, def.

    Hey who saw Carly’s blue top last week on American Idol?! It was so cute! Does anyone know who Smithson’s sylist is? The only thing I do know is that the silk shirt was from a new fashion boutique called – happy LA. If Carly’s chic and trendy shirt is anything like the rest of the clothing carried at the happy LA boutique, I definitely think it is worth venturing to the Pacific Palisades to check out!
