American Idol 7: 20 to 16 Cuts!

Another week, time for four to go home on ‘American Idol’ season 7. Tonight, two guys and two girls will lose the chance to be this year’s ‘American Idol.’ Following performances of various songs of the seventies, and a lot of [constructive] criticism, it seemed there were 20 very nervous people waiting to hear their fate tonight. Following a seventies medley where almost everyone [except Jason Castro, that I noticed,] had a solo, it was time to see how things would go. Thirty one million votes came down to four eliminations.

Kim: But first, and most importantly of course…. the AI hair report:

Alright, baby steps.

There are some cheesy looking extensions being passed around amongst the girls, although I think this is a good look for Carly!

Kim: No cheesy costumes for tonights group performance? Darn. I really enjoyed that aspect. Moving on to the eliminations…

Guys

Kim: Okay, so I predicted one of the guys wrong here; at least I got them right on another elimination pool *pops the collar*. Jason Yegar, OUT. Finally! He’s really just lucky that he made as far as he did.

Tiff: Personally, I don’t know how he’s made it this far. Cannon fodder, perhaps.

Tiff: The last guy’s elimination finished the show. Everyone was safe, except Luke Menard and Robbie Carrico, who were asked to join Ryan in the center of the stage. In the end, the faux rocker, Robbie Carrico had not convinced everyone he had what it took to be the ‘American Idol.’ I really have to say I expected Luke to go home tonight.

Kim: Robbie can hang his wig out to dry, he got the boot too. I kinda feel sorry for this guy and I can’t explain why. I hated him during the audition/hollywood rounds but he wasn’t bad, last week at least. I think had he been a girl, he would be sitting pretty right now but the competition between all the guys is TIGHT.

Girls

Kim: First girl out, Alex And Drea (sorry, the pronunciation just cracks me up). If you ask me the girl was DOA. Sucks that she was pretty good last week, but like Randy mentioned, she really HAD to bring it this week.

Tiff: Poor David Archuleta cried his eyes out as Alexandrea sang. She hugged him immediately after her song, which was sweet. She really didn’t look very surprised.

Kim: Awww I just wanted squish his little head off!

Tiff: Another girl’s elimination came next. Carly Smithson, Ramiele Malubay, and Syesha Mercado were safe, leaving it between Alaina Whitaker and Kady Malloy. When it came down to it, a very stunned looking Kady was safe, leaving Alaina out. She was devastated, breaking down, saying she couldn’t sing. After a brief interview with Ryan, and a crying Danny Noriega, the girls convinced her to sing.

Kim: I was majorly bummed when I saw Kristy, Alex and Amanda on the top row! Right then it was obvious Kady was gone……or perhaps, not. Alaina leaving shouldn’t be that surprising, but my mouth dropped open in shock. Poor girl did a great job last week, but was forgettable this week

Coming Up…

Tiff: And, Ryan announced ‘Idol Gives Back’ will return this April 9th, and this year, Brad Pitt, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Snoop Dog, Daughtry, and Carrie Underwood will be among the participants.

Kim: He also mentioned that Ruben Studdard is the “major” recording artist who will sing the elimination song this season. What the heck is their obsession with him??

And next week is the BIG WEEK! Can you believe that out of Amanda, Kristy and Kady, we’re going to be stuck with one of them in the top 12? I think those three will be duking it out for the last spot amongst the girls. And for the guys, David H. is going to have to bust out another show stopping performance if he wants to edge out Chikezie, and more importantly (for our sakes) Luke. I sure hope he does.

And also, next weeks theme will be the 80s (I think I’m noticing a pattern here),the top 12 theme will be The Beatles and Blake Lewis performs live on the results show next week!

Be sure to check back this weekend for the return of our song suggestions!

Ha. I’m the lone crusader for Jason Yeager, but eh. He certainly wasn’t the greatest performer, but he’s got an excellent voice, and honestly, had the judges arbitrarily deemed him a chosen one and concentrated on his vocals Tuesday, he’d still be around. But considereing that there are apparently shady “journalists” out there itching to dig up things from his past, maybe it’s just better for him and his son that he’s no longer in the public eye.

Last year, my favorite contestant (Leslie Hunt) got cut at exactly the same point in the competition. I think it’s karma for my favorite actually winning season five. :)

BTW, I love this website, you guys. Keep up the good work.

    Hey Kat thanks!!

Honestly I think Jason Y’s voice sounded just as bad as his performance last week. And yeah I heard about is baby mama. That was…disturbing.
