SAG Awards Wrap Up
Posted by Kim on January 28th, 2008 filed in TV, Movie NewsSo, who watched? It was a great way of making up for the Golden Globes but after about a hour I was bored. Here’s a recap of the top winners:
Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
No Country For Old MenOutstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Daniel Day Lewis - There Will Be BloodOutstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
Julie Christie - Away From HerOutstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role

Ruby Dee- American GansterOutstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series
The Office!Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series
The Sapranos
Other winners included Tina Fey, Alec Bardem and a bunch of people from The Sapranos. Read the list here.
And one of the stand out moments from the show was Daniel Day Lewis dedicating his award to Heath Ledger:
Very sweet of him, but still sad. Backstage he talked about why he decided to that and said…
“I suppose that’s all I’ve been thinking about for the last few days. I never met him. I thought he was beautiful. I just have a very strong feeling that I would have liked him very much as a man. …I admired him very much.”
I think that pretty much sums up how a whole lot of us feel.
And then there was the fashion. There was nothing absolutely awful, and at the same time I wasn’t blown away by anything either.
BEST DRESSED
1. Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) - This looks high end and couture, just like a red carpet dress should! The bottom, ugh, love it!
2. Marion Cotillard - Sort of princessy but not in a cheesy or poofy way. Very ethereal and oh so pretty.
3. America Ferrera - I love this color even though it’s a bit depressing, the lace detals are pretty, love the broach at the shoulder too.
4. Ryan Gosling - Cool silver suit with a plaid shirt. I love it when the men DON’T wear a boring tux.
5. Michelle Pfieffer - Clean and simple, and it fits her like a glove. Great shoes too.
6. Sandra O - I’m going to get SO much flack for this but I don’t care! The dress grew on me when I heard the story behind it…it’s supposed to be a couture evening gown version of tradition Koreon wear; if you saw it on TV especially, you can really tell. Plus she wore an unknown local designer, nice!
7. Viggo Mortensen - He could show up in suit made of cotton balls and it still would’ve looked awesome.
8. Vanessa Williams - Making school bus look chic.
Honorable Mentions - Debra Messing & Marcia Cross
WORST DRESSED
Ellen Pompeo - The dressed looked velvet, plus there was a ton of draping and it’s hard to combine both without looking old and dusty.
Rebecca Romijn - WAAAY too much going on with this dress; it looks like someone squirted ink across it. Save that for the bedroom, honey.
Angelina Jolie - Way too much of one ugly fabric.
That’s all!
