And becomes the second Idol winner to be let out of his contract.  J records just recently cut ties with Taylor after less than 2 years and only one album, even though he had a 3 album deal.  So much for second chances!  The label says “Taylor is going to record his next album on his own.  He is no longer on the J Records roster.” and Taylor says,  “I’ll also have the time now to create an album without the post-winning-’Idol’ constrictions.  I have time for the album to breathe artistically.”

I just LOVE that they take someone who plays unpopular music to begin with, forget to give him a single, skip out on making a music video and do little promotion and then complain even though he still manages to sell  700k!  And the average sales for a new artist is somewhere around 400k to begin with.

So watch out future Idol hopefuls….they might just set you up to fail from the get go.

Finally! Now Taylor can do HIS thing and
create good music without Clive Davis controlling his every move. Go Taylor - can’t wait for your next CD.

  2. Lauri Says:

Go Taylor!! This is great for him. Finally a CD with his music. Good riddance to AI and Clive. I can’t wait for the new CD.

If this is true. I think it is a very positive thing for Taylor. You go Taylor!

  4. Elizabeth Says:

    Yea Taylor!!!! Bye Clive!!!!

Clive Davis was a rope around Taylor’s creative neck.

Nothing but good things abound for Taylor’s next CD now! and the next and the next!!

Taylor used AI for the notoriety to be seen and heard. He won that with flying colors! Now that he has a legion of fans, he will soar.

Oh, how I would love to be a fly on Taylor’s wall right now.

Congratulations, Taylor, on this new development!!

Taylor will be just fine. He’s a real musician/songwriter/singer. He’ll be around for a long time.

  7. Kimberly Says:

Haha, I’m glad you guys are happy about it :) But I still don’t like the way they treated him.

The Soul Patrol have your back Taylor!! Go do your thing properly!! Make YOUR music, not just what the suits want you to do!! AI was like a stepping stone covered in mud…got you to where you needed and deserved to be but kept you from going any further. Just run with it babe!!

Amen. Finally someone in print get it right! He was set up to fail. J Records sabaotaged him from the getgo and Taylor still managed to sell over 800,000 per soundscam worldwide. As a fan I was sooo tired of all of the lies written about him as a “failure”. Nothing could be further from the truth!Good riddance to Clive and co.!

Cant wait for your next CD Go Taylor!!

Thanks for FINALLY getting it right. Taylor had absolutely NO help from Clive Davis, the only help Clive gave him was to help him fail. I think that Taylor was slapped too many times in the face and finally and thankfully had enough! I can’t see someone like Taylor being a “yes” man like so many of the others are obviously being. I personally don’t know how he stood all of the personal attacks for so long….I would have walked out long ago. Clive Davis is an ego maniac that thinks that everyone has to bow down to him and be his little puppet-maybe that works most of the time, but now and again you are going to run into someone who has principles and doesn’t want to be or can’t be a “pop idol”. I think Taylor should also take a look at his “management” as in “The Firm”. I have a hard time believing that they have been doing him right also.

  12. Kimberly Says:

^He fired the Firm a while ago, from what I hard, and is on CAA (great agency to be with).

Of course they set Taylor up to ‘fail’. It was clear TPTB wanted Chris Daughtry to win (not saying anything bad about the dude’s stuff, it’s okay, but it’s clear they wanted him to be the winner) and when the public said ’stop cramming YOUR winner down our throat’ they found a way to make sure our votes were nullified. Clive Davis is just the music end of American Idol and he had no intention of doing anything to help the winner they perceived as fake.

Just remember that as AI goes into this new season next week. No matter who you want to win, it’s who THEY want to win who’ll succeed.
