See who made the cut!

25. Irreplaceable - Beyonce

I love that this song is just so simple, not overproduced, and gets right to the point, yet it was still a smash for ‘07. Gotta love singing along with this one, and of course saying to da lef, to da lef whenever I can.

24. When You’re Gone - Avril Lavigne

Avril comes out with a nice song every now and then, but they’d all sound better if they wer sung by anyone else. But despite that I like this one, and I love the piano melody in the beginning.
23. Umbrella - Rihanna

Yeah, I apologize for including this. I really was unimpressed with this song and all it’s hype t first, but after giving it a few listens it is a nice song and I can’t hate it just because everyone else loves.

22.
Kiss Kiss - Chris Brown

I love this kid! He has so much charisma and stage presence for someone SO young, and he’s cute too (but in a little kid sorta way…so don’t stick Chris Hansen on me). I rarely even listen to this type of music but Kiss Kiss is a pretty hot song.

21. U + Ur Hand - Pink

I first heard this song on TV or something, I can’t remember exactly, but the chorus just had me hooked. The rest of the song ain’t to shabby either.

20. Never Again - Kelly Clarkson

Yup, you read that correctly! I’m one of 12 people who actually really, really liked “Never Again”. It actually is a pretty catchy song. I think it shows off Kelly’s shortcomings as a song writer but I love the way the song builds and crescendos, and I really like the drums in the background too.

19. Ice Box - Omarion

There’s not a lot of R&B on this list, which says a lot for this song. I think everything about this song is great but the background track impresses me more than the lyrics. The video is ridiculous though.

18. With Love - Hilary Duff

I’ve been into a dancey/club sound this year and this song was probably one of the reasons why. Who cares if it’s Hilary! Great song for working out.

17. Just to Feel That Way - Taylor Hicks

How this didn’t become an AC hit is totally BEYOND ME. It’s just one of those awesome pop ballads, and I love the lyrics, especially “take a walk on the wire, I won’t let you go…”.

16. Wait For You - Elliott Yamin

This song is like old school R&B from the early 90’s; I loved that stuff. Seriously, LOVED it and I wish there would be a revival of that sound. Anyhoo, Elliott is doing pretty well for himself and I think that’s one of the reasons why.

15. This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race - Fall Out Boy

I tried to resist liking any Fall Out Boy songs but they’re just so darn catchy. It’s got a great beat and a mix of a bunch of different styles.

14. Dance Floor Anthem - Good Charlotte

I was shocked when I first heard this song was done by Good Charlotte; I didn’t even know they still made music, let alone popular or good music. It took me a while to figure out that I liked this but it grows on me more and more each time I hear it. It’s just so darn catchy!

13. Summer Love - Justin Timberlake

I’m probably alone in thinking this but Summer Love was the only single from JT that I really liked. Sexyback was stupid, My Love was obnoxious, What Comes Around was alright but boring and lasted 39302844 minutes.

12. Thnks fr th Mmrs - Fall Out Boy

Another catchy one from the Fall Out Boys. I love the opening, it so DRAMATIC.

11. It’s Not Over - DAUGHTRY

You guys who read this site often probably know that I hate DAUGHTRY, but actually I loved It’s Not Over. It might not be original in the least bit but it sure is catchy.

10. What I’ve Done - Linkin Park

I always like music from Linkin Park. Their stuff is always sort of dark and angry but at least they’re singing about something people can relate to, unlike some of these bands who just scream because they have nothing better to do.

9. Stonger - Kanye West

Oh man, this one is full of awesomeness. It gets you PUMPED in the gym. Try it.

8. Big Girls Don’t Cry - Fergie

Let’s just ignore the fact that this is THE most overplayed radio song of the year. Perhaps even all time. Before I got sick of it, I thought this song was absolutely adorable and it was nice to see a different side of Fergie. Love the lyrics, they’re honest and fun to sing a long with. Having Milo in the video wasn’t a bad idea either.

7. The Way I Are - Timbaland

Another one that I first heard on So You Think You Can Dance?. Just a cheesy, fluffy hip hop song with an awesome beat.

6. Lithium - Evanesence

Pretty much all songs from Evanescence can be classified as “haunting with a beautiful piano melody” and I guess that’s why we keep coming back. Even before it was a single, I had this song playing on repeat on my iPod.

5. Gimmie More - Britney Spears

I still can’t figure out how someone who’s life is such a mess can create such a HOT song! Britney might not ever look or perform the way she used to but I she’s proved that she will never stop making amazing pop music, and that’s what it’s really about right? I haven’t gotten sick of this yet.

4. Sober - Kelly Clarkson

Her album “My December” might’ve been a dud in more ways than none, but if you ask me “Sober” is some of her best work. It’s sounds like the perfect mix between a pop ballad and something you’d hear from a folky, singer/songwriter type artist. And the lyrics are great too, “picked all my weeds but saved the flowers”.

3. All Good Things Come To An End - Nelly Furtado

I love how this song is so chipper sounding yet the lyrics are actually pretty depressing if you think about it. The wole thing could pretty much be described as bittersweet. This is one of those songs that I put on repeat when I was on my bus rides to and from Los Angeles; there’s something soothing about it and it never gets old. Great lyrics too, especially the part at the end, “and the dogs were whistlin’ a new tune, barking at the new moon, hoping it would come soon”.

2. Apologize - One Republic

I first heard this on So You Think You Can Dance?, like a lot of people, and I love the original just as much as the Timbaland version. This song is just SO amazing in so many ways.

1. Say It Right - Nelly Furtado

Alright, it was officially released at the very end of 2006, but it takes a while for songs to impact radio and I didn’t hear until way into the new year! I rag on Timbaland a lot but he did a great job giving this his signature touch without having it sound like most of the stuff on the radio. The song has a great beat and it has this dark, sort of haunting sound to it that I just love. The electric guitar was a nice touch as well.

THE WORST

5. Get It Shawty - Lloyd
I heard this for the first time on So You Think You Can Dance? For the most part I think current R&B and Hip Hop music is the pits and this song pretty much explains why. It couldn’t be more derivative if it tried. The guy can’t perform live either.

4. Wake Up Call - Maroon 5
This song is absolutely hideous. I haven’t listened to their entire album but it must be miserable if they had to resort to releasing this ugly song as a single.

3. Paralyzer - Finger 11
I HATE this song with such a passion. It sounds like it’s about some creepy stalker who’s about to slip some girl a date rape drug in a club. And then he goes on and on about how pretentious the club is and how he hopes it closes…um, then why are you patronizing it in the first place? Why don’t you JUST LEAVE??

2. Rockstar - Nickelback
I don’t know why but my radio station has an odd obsession with this song. It was amusing the first time, but Chad Kroegers voice is like Chinese water torture, besides the fact that the melody is obnoxious to begin with.

1. Don’t Matter - Akon
Annoying voice, obnoxious repetitive melody and simple minded lyrics. Enough said.

Overall this was SUUUUCH a boring year for music!
